amazing garden done with a lot of fore-thought, love and time. I especially love the fact that it is within the area of an ancient maori site that is still suprisingly giving up the odd artefact

Not just lovely trees, and beautiful flowers in delightful "garden rooms", but also the most wonderful views of Mount Taranaki and the surrounding hills and valleys and a welcoming, helpful host. Go see it!

Evan though I'm a local, Ive never heard of Puketarata before. Beautiful garden, hidden away. Very well cared for. Lovely bush area down the hill to explore too.

This country garden well-deserves its five star rating from Gardens Trust. It is sited on a hillside with extensive views but the way the garden has been made to blend with the contours of the land to maximise the effectiveness of the planting gives it a special charm. The plant palette is wide and the plants are well grown. The owners, Jennifer and Ken Horner are particularly welcoming and add to the enjoyment of a must-see garden.

I have been to this garden several times and like to take visitors. The hosts are very welcoming and enjoy sharing their garden.they know their plants and share the information freely.

View of Mt Egmont covered in snow as backdrop to a garden so obviously loved by the owners. The foreground was a view of rolling Taranaki farmland. A feeling of calm and peace pervaded everywhere - even the tennis court was surrounded by this same magic!

This garden was actually made up of several different gardens/areas with awesome views across farmland. Lush green combined with beautiful colours and established trees complimented the well thought-out plantings and combinations. Definitely the best garden we saw in the Festival this year in South Taranaki. Though I'm not a country girl at heart, I'd be tempted if I could live at this amazing place and enjoy this stunning property.

What a wonderful garden we found. Well worth a visit and would have loved to spent longer there. Very peaceful. Great walk down into the gorge.

This garden was wonderful - planted with family and friends in mind it's thoughful design made wandering a delight. Each section of the graden revealed itself to be beautiful and made sitting quietly an absolute pleasure. A must see for anyone who loves beauty and nature.....

This country garden is sensitively set within its stunning environment, including the adjacent 400 year old Puketarata Pa. It has wonderful views of Mount Taranaki and is a lovely spot for a picnic. Jen has skilfully blended native plants with exotic varieties. There are generous herbaceous plantings that provide colour and scent. A peaceful garden with many hidden plantings to discover. Another bonus is that Jennifer and Ken Horner are knowledgeable fabulous hosts! I highly recommend a visit to this garden, you won't be disappointed.
