This is a small, leafy square at Brussels' bohemian neighborhood of Ixelles. Supposed to be an ideal option for a stroll, extensive roadworks, common in the Belgian capital at the time of writing, ruin the experience. The small market is interesting, though.

Cette place (ainsi que, par extension, l'ensemble du quartier) est l'épicentre du style BCBG-bobo-bio-etc, ce qui la rend aussi drôle qu'intéressante. Drôle, parce qu'on y croise des spécimens à la dextérité farouche, soucieux de ce qui émane d'eux. Intéressante, parce que les commerces se mettent au diapason et proposent un tas de produits détonants. Cette manière de vivre a ses limites, l'authenticité souffre, mais ceci reste un endroit à visiter.

If all the surface car parks with some trees were listed on TripAdvisor there would be a tremendous number of such listings. Why Place du Châtelain, with its parked SUVs and other vehicles that should be banned from city centres, should deserve an exception is a mystery to us. There is nothing to see, really. The architecture isn’t interesting and there are few shops, restaurants or cafés on the square itself. Most are to be found in the adjoining streets where there are some pleasant spots like Lulu Home. The very expensive food market on Wednesday (2 p.m. to 7 p.m.) seems to attract a lot of well-to-do French expats. Locals stay away.

Toujours un plaisir que de traverse cette place et de s’arreter sur une des terrasses de café. Tous les commerces sont représentés et on y mange très bien
