It is good to have a stop from Wellington up to National park or Taupo. The statue is big and worth to take a photo with it. Unique! We saw it attracted quite a lot of people on our visit. Most people just parked nearby and had a quick photo-shoot.

The gumboot!!! What can one say!!!! Part of Kiwi culture! Great backdrop for pictures, and a good representation of the surrounding farming area and the historical annual Gumboot throwing competitions (pre Covid) . Set in a nice park area that family can stop and enjoy. Close to Taihape central on he northern side of the township.

One of the conspicuous big statues in NZ. Great place to have group picture. There is a park nearby so you can easily have a picnic there.

It is a large size gumboot monument. When approaching Taihape from North, it is before the town centre, at the left side. Have a quick stop, and found a reserve next to this monument if you want wandering at the surrounding area. Not really spectacular but still unique, and maybe it is the only one in NZ. Do the stop when you passing Taihape.

Stopped off as you do for a photo opportunity. Smaller than I expected for some reason but did the usual. You can park on the road and I noticed a bush walk next door. Enjoy....

Gumboots, they are wonderful, gumboots, they are swell
'coz they keep out the water and they keep in the smell.
And when you're sittin' round at home, you can always tell
When one of the Trevs has taken off his gumboots.
If it weren't for your gumboots, where would ya be?
You'd be in the hospital or infirmary
'coz you would have a dose of the 'flu, or even pleurisy
If ya didn't have yer feet in yer gumboots.
Now there's rugby boots and racing boots and boots for drinkin' rum.
But the only boots I'm never without are the ones that start with "gum".
I've got short ones and long ones and some up to me belt.
I'm never dressed 'till I've got on me gumboots.
Whenever I sing at the opera, my gumboots are a must.
They help me…
