A trip to Murud

“O Ocean vast! We heard thy song with wonder,
whilst waves marked time.”

’Reminds one, Victo Hugo’s poem, sitting on the balcony and silently observing the wide-angle enchanting spectacular view of the vast Arabian Sea. While planning for a short visit in Murud a small sea-side town in Raigarh district of Maharashtra, as I saw the website of Murud Marina Hotel, after surfing the net, I found it the hotel of my budget and expectation. As I reached the hotel after one night stay in Alibaug, Mr Shoib Malik, the owner of the hotel with whom I had talk over mobile and WhatsApp earlier, greeted us warmly. He allotted us a sea-viewing deluxe, double bed room provided with AC and wall TV, in second floor. In fact, all the sixteen rooms of this four-storied hotel are alike and sea-viewing that include one family room and one honeymoon suit. In spite of 3-star hotel quality, it’s a budget hotel for middle class people.

We two senior citizen couple gladly agreed for second floor room as there was a small lift and were happy to find the room very neat and clean. Added attraction is a swimming pool with blue water but I dared not swim here as water was very cold for me.

Being the beach area there are lot of street food kiosks and some food outlets close to the hotel, but we preferred the hotel foods and that were well-cooked and tasty. The service and behavior of hotel staffs are very pleasant.

The prime attraction of Murud apart from the beach is the fifteenth century built Murud-Janjira fort in an island inside the sea around 5 km from the beach. Ferry is available. But we avoided to visit it considering it would be tough for us.

The Murud beach is very nice and people throng in large in early morning and afternoon to enjoy bathing, riding horse, horse-cart camel, four-wheel scooter and the street foods.

Place where everyone goes.

Access to last few meters is very narrow. Beach is very good with water sports available through unorganised people. Camel ride or horse cart ride is also available. Oarking is on the beach only.

Nice Beach

Clean beach, and also can park ur vehicle in front of beach.
we visited with cousins with family's. we enjoyed lot.
we played cricket over there.
there are many food stall available and also hotels in front of the beach.
very good view of Janjira fort. also there is washroom on the beach where u can take bath at very nomial rate and same is also available at nearby hotels.

Excellent place for family outing.

Enjoyed a lot. Very good location for family outing with enough activities and water sports available. Number of food stalls from locals are there which serves tasty snacks. The beach has many resort connected to it in case planning to stay longer.

Clean Beach with Water Sports Activity

Very Clean beach , also the only beach where you can take your car inside the beach you can park and enjoy with your family you can also do water sports activity but slightly expensive..

Oil on murud beach 1May 2022

The place is awesome of 1-2 days getaway. But due to some oil spill the beach and sand was all turned black and sticky. This happens every one in a while. It is better to avoid the beach as can affect your skin, Clothes and footwear.

Cleanest Beach of Alibaug

Murud beach is located at 5 km away from Murud Janjira fort and 50 km away from Alibaug. A Long scenic stretch of a beach with soft sand, swaying palms are its primary attractions. Murud Beach waits all day for the sun to turn red over the Arabian Sea, with the impossibly located Padmadurg Fort, seemingly floating in the water, in the foreground. And you wouldn’t be off the mark if you believe that life and economy in Murud organize themselves around the daily sunset.

Specialty of this Beach:
1. Murud beach is a vast expanse of black sand with clear bluish water, stretching almost 1.75 km along the coastal line. The view of Sun set is extremely beautiful and the adjoining island forts of Janjira and Padmadurgad add to the beauty of the beach.
2. There are Ferry's available from here to see the Dolphins. If you are lucky it's a memorable experience to watch the flock of dolphins jumping between waves.
3. This beach is famous for water activities like Ferry rides, Buggy Rides, Banana Boat Ride. and special of this beach is there is Scuba diving available here.
4. This beach is surrounded on three sides by mountains. The water here is clear Blue and the sand is silvery white.

It is not a beach where you find something attractive as it is not very clean and does not offer any great views.

multiple option are availble for eat and for kids mutiple rides (water soprts) , (horse , camel , baggi, beach motor bike) reasanoable rates

(croweded during weekend)

Most Visited Beach of Dapoli hence Heavily Commercialized, Crowded and Filthy as well . You can visit this if are looking for water sports activities food stalls on beach. In-case you are more towards peaceful beach experience visit another beaches in the Vicinity they are far far better , Clean and Less Commercial .
