Worst experience full rocks and no water facilities in this trekking areas and dangerous rocks advice no one should travel here in thus Fort.

Adventures joyful trek up to the top ..very happy... its a steep trek completed in two hours one way

Moderately difficult trek. Trail is clean and litter free.
Remember to carry enough water and snacks as there are no vendors after the first 200 m. The canteen run by ladies, right after you enter the bird sanctuary gate is highly recommended - esp the poha and vada pav.
No washrooms on the way either. So make the most of the washroom available right at the entrance.
Wear excellent shoes. It's quite warm throughout the year, with little tree cover on the way. So no need to carry jackets, even in winter.
The final leg, at the fort itself, does seem daunting. But it's worth it. Find a spot and sit down for a few moments of calm, eating your snacks and clicking some gorgeous pics

very crowded and not at all safe. no precuations were taken and hence we decided to leave the place. authorities should monitor these tourist places more strictly

On our first trip after Covid, on the way to Alibag we stopped by the Karnala bird sanctuary. We expected it to be shut due to Covid, but it wasn’t. The bird sanctuary has a lot of different trekking routes that go through the park. We didn’t spot any birds as such except the occasional chirping sounds and a few cages with parrots, peacock, kite,etc
The Karnala fort trek as the name suggests leads up to Karnala fort. I would grade the difficulty level as moderate as it is a steep climb up over the hill. It is about 2.5-3km one way and takes about 1 1/2 -2hrs to reach the top. Make sure you carry enough water with you.The path takes you amidst nature and the views from the top are refreshing. The fort was ruled by the British, Marathas and the Mughals at various times.
There is a canteen at the base in the sanctuary which provides decent Maharashtrian snacks and lunch. You can ask them to prepare some lemonade for your hike... trust me you will need it!

It has the same main entrance from the Karnala Bird Sanctuary and is closed due to Covid.
We drove as no information was available online.
Tip: The exit to the Karnala Fort is a side exit on the left, there is no signage so put on Maps and then take the exit. We overshot and had to reverse.

Beautiful place to go on a hike especially in monsoon!As you go to the top one can see the ruins of the old fort.

Visited the next day of Diwali with a family member and my son. Reached there by bullet by 12 and started trekking. It took three hours to reach the top and 2 hours to come down taking safety as primary concern for my 5 year old son. You will find rocks, long tree roots, snake holes in your path which makes the trekking adventurous. If you are lucky you can spot green snake which is very common in western ghats. Luckily We spotted it in starting of the climb. The management takes nominal ticket charges for visit and parking. A good initiative started there to reduce plastic waste that the number of plastic items you carry to the top must be returned with you otherwise they will take fine. One more thing is that you should carry sufficient amounf of water as you won't find it anywhere through the climbing. Overall a very good experience.

Hi, were there railings at the final climbing to the entrance of the fort back in 1992?
And were there fees for entry or parking if there were parking slots at the time of 1992?
And were there resting sheds in places in 1992?
And was Trek possible at the aforementioned time?

How to get back to Panvel railway station from Karnala Fort? Are buses regularly available during weekdays? What are their timings?
I read that buses TO karnala fort from Panvel Station is easily found, but what about returning?

There are many Tumtums outside the bird sanctuary which takes you back till Panvel station for around ₹100 per person.

All you need to First get down to Panvel Railway Station, From there 5 to 10 min walking distance towards Bus Stand and there you need to take any bus which goes to Lonavala or Pune because Karnala Fort is comes in this route only, and confirm it once before you get into bus about the place it will take a max of 20 to 25 min to reach to Karnala fort from Panvel Bus Stand.
If you are finding any difficulty take the help Google Map and set the route using Navigator.

Is Karnala fort trek suitable for kids, in the age group of 5 / 6 years...what time does the ticket office open for start of trek...

For 5-6 year old children this will be difficult unless they are used to trekking and long walks. It is not very difficult but kids should be used to walking 2-3 hours.
I guess ticketing window opens at around 8/9. Not very sure.
