Gunung Jerai is so beautiful. Quite peak however i cannot deny the beauty of the place. So calm and relaxing my mind. The temperature is cold 🥶, I'm freezing. My dad also get flu and cough during night time. Most things that I will not going to forget is Rusdi Char Kuew Tiaw... So Yummy 😋

Narrowing winding road. Great view from the top. Day trippers ++ with wedding couples vying for photo spots. Evenings n nights more peaceful. Good restaurant. Comfortable temperature 😊

Why is the peak of Gunung Jerai hidden by placing an army camp and closing of the area from the public in the pretext of national security. Who is going to attack a village called Gurun unless there is something valuable up there? After all, it is just some ruins left by some inconsequential king centuries ago. I have attached some very old photos taken many years ago at the Murugan temple and the peak. Why isn't public allowed to view it today? Any ulterior motive?

Resort is nice but I am giving 1 star due to the behaviour of receptionist. Very rude!!
Another advice, Dont book executive rooms!
Cheched-in on 24-Dec in 3 executive rooms with friends and family, and the view is not good. When informed receptionist, she made me wait for 30 mins at reception without saying anything, and later rudely said that there is no other room available.

Tempat bergambar yang menarik utk kaki ootd. rasai kesejukan dan udara yang bersih semasa waktu pagi. so fresh. klau tak mau drive blh naik dengan van. rm10 pergi dan balik.

Driving upwards along the narrow road that winds itself up to the summit at about 1000 metre above sealevel, we met a couple of monkeys eating fruits, leaves and nuts from the jungle trees. At the top of the mountain is a hotel restaurant/resort. The restaurant has a nice terrace with view over the paddy fields and the sea side of Kedah. The waitres serves drinks and snacks as well as pastries. The restaurant of the hotel offers a lunch and dinner buffet, style Malay. About 100 metre from the restaurant is a botanical garden, but not very well maintained. Walking down hill along a steep trail leads to a beautifull waterfall. On the way down we saw many butterflies and birds. It is worthewhile to visit this Gunung Jerai mountain.

Gunung Jerai is Kedah's oldest hill resort and recreational park. Standing at 1,200m above sea level, this legendary mountain is also the highest peak in Kedah. Resort accommodation is located atop the hill. It has a good climate where the temperature ranges between 19 to 21 degrees Celsius.
You can choose to cycle up, drive up yourself, rent a van or hike up. I just used my own car to climb to the top of Jerai. The 10km drive up the mountain was steep and dangerous at some points when the road became too narrow.
The view on top was breathtaking. Visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the sea and nearby islands. We can learn lots of valuable knowledge about herbal plants grow wild here. In addition, the mountain and its surroundings are ideal for nature-based activities such as hiking, camping and mountain biking.

Can consider for family trip, good place for gathering a day trip or overnight accommodation. Can drive all the way up to top but watch out on some hairpin bends which looks dangerous but still manageable with careful drive. Great view from top with wide paddy field with sea side by side. May plan for early or late visit for sunrise and sunset view. Awesome trip.

There is a great view of the sea and padi fields. There's also some flowers and a forestry museum. Supposedly we heard there was a botanical garden but when we were there, it was closed and in a state of disrepair.
Compared to Cameron Highlands or Genting Highlands, there's not much to do and food options are limited.

Went up to the mountain in car early morning at 7am, paid RM3 for car to be paid inside. It was really nice and relax due to the cold breeze and friendly staff. We spent the whole morning chilling there and been to the cafe to have some drink. The coffee is not bad.

Is it easy to find a transport up to jerai if we don't book and is it safe to park the car at foothill.

Why don't you drive up in your own car? It is not dangerous compared to leaving your car at the foot of the hill. The road is not as winding and not too steep too. It will solve both your questions.
