I was amaze by its beauty, it’s so mesmerizing but sadly the tourists are not allowed to enter to the closer bridge maybe for safety purposes. I hope someday I can go back here, manifesting!

We drove all the way from Mati ... a three hour drive ... to view this famous series of 84 waterfalls. While the Aliwagwag Falls Ecopark remains closed to the public due to the on-going pandemic, visitors can still admire the beauty of the site from the concrete bridge that connects Cateel to Compostela. Take as many photos as you wish, but don't expect anything more than that, at least for now.

Currently the place is still closed so we just had a quick stop over for some photos. It was better like this though since you have the place all to your self. No other guests blocking the lovely view. The closer we got was only until the bridge but we still have a good look at majestic falls.

It was my first time to travel to this part of Mindanao. Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental have been low on my list of places to visit, maybe because of the absence of tourism promotion materials about the plaves around these areas.
The three and half hours drive from Davao to Aliwagwag Falls in Cateel Davao Oriental was very smooth amd relaxing. I was greatly impressed by the road system all throughout. Well paved roads all throughout the trip. The long and winding roads past Nabunturan and up the mountains made one appreciate the beauty of nature and the simple way of life in the rural areas.
Once you reach Aliwagwag Falls, you appreciate even more how blessed our country is with the majesty of the falls.
Seeing the volume of water cascading down the rock formations and hearing the roar of water are enough to overwhelm you.
The experience will not be complete without taking a dip in the mini pools in each of the tiers and going under one of the rock formations to have a quick back massage from the gushing water falling down on you.
One should also try the local dishes served across the street. I recommend the local dish of paksiw na kasili, Mindanao's famous eel dish or beef hinalang ( local beef stew spiced with pepper).
Unfortunately, there are no available lodging places in the immediate vicinity of the falls so we had to go to Cateel town to spend the night. To maximize our trip to the area, we proceeded to Baganga the following day for more sightseeing and food tripping.

because most of the time they destroy a place like this with ugly concreet, to many rules and to much tshirt shops. but everything is in great balance here. the wet roads are so good that even elderly people walk on them. we were here in the rainy season and the big falls were spectacular. but still you could swim in the small pools next to them.it took us like three hours from nabunturan to drive over here but also the drive is amazing. such great views. almost only local tourists. mobalik nako

Yes I can say that Aliwagwag Falls is the best falls I've ever been to...so much better, more exhilarating than Kawasan, Ma. Cristina, Tagbibinta, Hagimit all rolled into one.
Why? Because first and foremost it is accessible...just by the highway when you're already in the area. Unlike others where the actual falls is situated farther away from the road you're required to walk some distance.
Second, the place is very well-maintained. I'd say I was satisfied dipping in the clear cool waters because it's really clean, including the surroundings, tables and benches and most of all, their comfort rooms. Ahhh, really comfortable.
Third, because the place isn't crowded... with so much space to roam around and lots of exciting activities to do, you won't have to stick to one place. It's a shame not to explore everything that's there. soooo beautiful. It's so tantalising you'd want to go back more often.
Lastly, the fees are verrrrrry affordable... So go and visit Aliwagwag Falls & Eco-Park. Satisfaction guaranteed!! And there's good parking ha? Clean as well!

This place is absolutely worth visiting. The waterfall spreads out and runs freshly through the mountainside. It’s not steep and it’s not free falling, but broad and lots of water. The river makes small lagoons along the way where it’s safe to swim.

Accessible from Davao del Sur and Norte, ComVal, even Cagayan and Butuan for me this is the most beautiful falls in the Philippines. So ive been backpacking south and north east of Mindanao and I dont wanna miss this falls. From
Davao by van and bus you will see Aliwagwag along the road, go down, pay p50 its worth and you will experience a cool water and clean. It they said it has 137 ladder falls and only 10-20 are open public and some will open soon. Im going back to see more in the years to come. Lots of habal-habal or motorcycle drivers and tricycle bystanding in the area and along the way to and from you will scenic views as well.

Im not sure whether there are rooms for overnight in Aliwagwag itself. But Cateel town is just 15mins away and I think there are places you could stay overnight there.

Hi, Ralph. There is a small lagoon where people can swim, near the fifth cascade of Aliwagwag Falls. The water current in this portion is not so strong, so it is quite safe to swim there. But going beyond this lagoon is dangerous because of the rapids.

More on Edar's Place: The lodging by far the best in the Cateel Region and the Restobar has, arguably, the best food. See the website for more details. The site is new as of May/2015. Google search "edar contact cateel", the site adress should be near the bottom of the results.
