Great view with the Wendelsteinbahn. It goes straight to the top, only the last ascent to the observatory has to be made.

The ride on the cog railway up the Wendelstein was very nice. The mountain is only about 1800mm but has a very steep and rocky peak. The view is really incredible even when you look down from the terrace or the church.
There is a good restaurant at the mountain station.
Apart from the terrace and restaurant, the summit is absolutely unsuitable for wheelchair users and strollers.
The walk up to the top is very exciting. A narrow footpath leads with steps and over rocks on the rock face up to the summit with a great all-round view. Relatively easy to walk if you have some stamina and good shoes and are not afraid of heights.
At the summit there is a panoramic path around the summit. The path is only for experienced hikers and can be walked with hiking boots. I cannot recommend the path, the view is exactly the same from above and you don't see anything special on the path.
Overall, highly recommended.
Please note the return journey time of the cable cars beforehand.

Nice trip up on the train and pleasant longish walk from the DB station in Brannenburg through the fields. The views from the summit are superb but the walk to the summit is not advised for anybody without walking boots as it can be a little slippy especially in the tunnel. Did not eat or drink at the top as we had travelled from Austria for the day so had limited time.

We were lucky with the weather!!! The prices for 3 adults and a small child are outrageous!!! 126 euros is not affordable for everyone!!!

Mit einer Reisegruppe gestern auf dem Wendelstein. Es hiess barrierefrei und auch bei körperlichen Einschränkungen möglich. Leider war es nicht so. Mit Rollstuhl ungeeignet und mit Rollatoren, Stöcken und Krücken äusserst schwierig. Eine einzige Behindertentoilette und die schwer erreichbar. Überall Treppen. Enttäuschend. Schön war der Ausblick! Sehr gut das Talbahnhofstüberl.

Wir sind von Bayrischzell zum Wendelstein in 2,5 Std hochgewandert und dann mit der Gondel zurück gefahren. Easy. Tickets kauft man direkt beim Eintritt der Gondel.

Die von 1910 bis 1912 von Otto von Steinbeis erbaute Wendelsteinbahn ist die älteste noch im Betrieb befindliche Zahnradbahn Bayerns. Sie wurde 1990 modernisiert und überwindet heute auf einer Länge von 7.660 Metern bis zur Bergstation 1.217 Höhenmeter. Dafür benötigen die Triebwagen 25 Minuten Fahrzeit. Im Winter werden ein paar anspruchsvolle Skiabfahrten präpariert, die Zahnradbahn wird dann noch durch zwei Schlepplifte ergänzt. Eine Seilbahn führt auch von Bayrischzell-Osterhofen auf den Wendelstein. Die Fahrpreise dort sind günstiger. Ich war in Urlaub am Chiemsee und machte mit meiner Frau einen Ausflug zur Wendelsteinbahn. Da auf der Webseite der Bahn sehr geworben wird mit den
kulinarischen Köstlichkeiten (mit Bildern und einer riesiegen Auswahl an Essensmöglichkeiten) und auch im Hauptflyer mit einer Brotzeit gelockt wir, dachten wir dass wir auf dem Wendelsteinhaus frühstücken.Als wir am Mittwochmorgen,den 18.05.22 um9.30 Uhr am Wendelsteinhaus ankamen freuten wir uns schon sehr auf das Frühstück.Doch dann wurden wir sehr enttäuscht: Das Panorama-Restaurant war komplett geschlossen (obwohl auf der Web-Seite steht, dass das Restaurant ganztägig geöffnet ist. Der SB Bereich war zwar offen , aber da war alles leer ,nicht einmal die Brötchen waren fertig aufgebacken.
Das einzige was uns angeboten wurde,war eine
Leberkässemmel oder ein paar Weisswürste.Es gab keine Brotzeit und auch sonst
nichts zum Frühstück.

Ein schönes Erlebnis, mit der Zahnradbahn hochzufahren. Oben findet man dann gut gepflegte Wanderwege vor, mit einer fantastischen Aussicht.
Das Parken an der Talstation ist kostenlos und das Personal der Bahn ist überaus freundlich.

We will be staying in Kufstein in June and would like to go up the Wendelsteinbahn. We do not have a car. What is the easiest way. From what I can find out is to catch a train to Brannenburg and then walk to the Wendelsteinbahn. Is there a bus from the station. Thankyou.
