After the training induction it was very unfortunate it just didn’t go long enough considering the advertising we read regarding this tour
However we were very welcomed by the staff

I was given a voucher for two for an outing on a Seqway at Rochford Winery followed by lunch afterwards. Having recently turned 50 I seriously considered giving the voucher away to my friends children as I believed I was much too old and would just look silly.
After speaking to a rep at Segway Victoria my mind was quickly put at ease being informed age is no barrier as long as you are able bodied.
So I braved it and booked my husband and I both in.
Our rellies of similar age heard what we were doing and didn't hesitate booking themselves in to join us and what a hoot of a time we had.
Our instructor Emily was so through and professional with showing us how to operate the machine and more importantly, feel comfortable when we were on our own. You complete a short course following her supervision and instructions before you are allowed to venture off and you all stay in the same area anyway as a group which helps build confidence.
The speed can be controlled by yourself and it doesn't take long before you really want to go as fast as possible which in our case was a range of 10-20 kmph. Various terrain was explored from open grassy paddocks, gravel roads and through the lanes amongst the grapevines. We even had a little course of jumps and bridge crosses set up which was loads of fun and a great way to build confidence. Yes I fell off but only once and to be expected with me, a true klutz. But I was not hurt and the machine cut off immediately. A couple of the lane-ways between the vines have recently been ploughed up and resowed so although grassy they have some hidden deep ruts so worth keeping in mind for future thrill seekers. I just choose the wrong lane and went a tad too fast, showing off.
Wouldn't hesitate to go again and to finish off with a very tasty glass of wine and the most delicious meal at Rochford, I seriously wouldn't hesitate to recommend this as a fun outing, test your skill set and then sit back and enjoy pure decadence at the the end. Age is only a barrier if you allow it to be,cheers!!!

Our segway tour to Rochford was great great experience.first of all lunch was good.Main course(limited choice) with glass of wine and filter coffee/tea included. prompt service for food and it was good quality. They have gluten free choices too.
After lunch, we started our Segway tour, instructor was amazing and very patience. He made sure that all stay safe and sound and clearly instructed.length of Segway tour is generous too.You have different obstacle levels to deal with.
Overall completely new experience and value for money.

We bought a voucher through Red Balloon that included a 90 minute Segway tour and main course lunch in the Rochford winery restaurant.
Our guide ANDREW was just fantastic . He spent a lot of time running us through safety matters and how to operate the Segway. We spent a bit of time practicing turns, stopping, forwards and reverse in the field before setting off along a track led by Andrew.
Initially we were put on training speed to ensure everyone is comfortable and capable, but in a short while we proved our proficiency and were put on regular speed.
We travel along gravel tracks at the perimeter of the winery, cut loose across the open grassy fields where the winery hosts concerts, master two obstacle courses and race between the rows of grape vines. Soooo much fun on a beautiful sunny day.
Fluoro vests and helmets are supplied and for comfort / stability I think it’s best to wear flat soled sneakers / runners. Nobody took a spill or encountered any issue on our tour.
We had 16 hour slow roasted beef on carrot purée for lunch with some crusty grain bread and a glass of Pinot Noir. ( you can opt for Chardonnay) Both were delicious.
This was such a fun day I would definitely do it again. A great birthday present idea.

Our Segway tour at Rochford Winery absolutely fantastic and full of fun. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend everyone to do this its suitable for most ages. The venue is picturesque and we spent time travelling around the Winery including up and down some rows of vines. Lunch was included and was just perfect!

We had a lovely day out with Lunch at Rochford Wines then a Segway tour of the winery. A lot of fun , Instructors were great and very patient with those needing a little extra time to get the hang of them. Instructors providing a thorough introduction and lesson before heading out through the vines, plenty of time just to have a play in a large area also. Worth doing. Good Value

I chose a 10am morning tour which meant that you finish with lunch rather than start with lunch then do the segway afterwards.
It was not my first time on a segway, but the staff were very attentive and helpful in training the whole group before setting out on the tour (safety video then individual attention on the segway before personal practice). Because there were 12 in the group, it meant we didn't start the tour until 11am. The path is mostly gravel or grass and can be a bit uneven. The first part of the tour is speed limited to "beginner", but once you reach the open field (aka overflow car park), the speed restriction is lifted. The tour advertises riding amongst the vineyards - we did this for a very short section at the end - but otherwise the tour takes you along the perimeter of the vineyards as well as vineyard buildings etc.
We had "free time" in the open field to do as we pleased - and you could ride on the open grass rather than keeping to the track - and there were some up and down hill sections on the tour. The guides were very obliging in taking photos of the group at various points. As it was a very hot and blustery day, we were given cool water towards the end of the tour which was greatly appreciated.
The lunch at Rochford Winery was delicious (one course + glass of wine, coffee/tea included) and a welcome break from the oppressive heat. The crew were also great at making sure we had sunscreen (+ optional insect repellent) before we set out on such a hot day.
It was a great day of fun and recommended for others who have not tried segway before!

Thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon riding a Segway (was a first for me). The staff were great and made sure you felt safe at all times. But, wished there was a slightly more challenging track route!

The tour itself is huge fun, lunch is adequate and delicious and service is courteous and friendly. Our ONLY complaint is that when we asked if we could reschedule our booking due to a wet and cold day, we were told politely that we could do so on payment of HALF of our total costs for the tour. As there were two of us and we paid (upfront, so they already had our payment) close to $300 for the tour, rescheduling to the following weekend was going to cost us almost $150. So we went on the tour, still enjoyed it but had our lunch while arms, legs and feet were cold and wet. Therefore, i stead of staying to enjoy a bottle of wine, we went straight home afterwards. Would have given 5 stars otherwise.

We spent 20 minutes with Emily who put us though our training
Then we were of on our tour
It had been raining so you can guess how much mud there was
It was excellent fun
My friend Dayne went for slide in the mud (funny)
The hole morning fun
I would advise doing the morning run not the afternoon run it's more fun to do before lunch I think
Because you get food and a glass of wine with the deal
I had the Barramundi it was nice
And again I would like to thank Emily for the fun day

Are there any packages that don't include lunch ?
Hi Ann, Thanks very much for your question! All of our tour packages include lunch, as this is how our "landlord" Rochford Wines make their "rent" from our use of their property. If we were to offer a package without lunch, we'd simply have to add a "site use" fee equivalent to the same amount, so the simpler thing - and best value option for our guests - is to simply include lunch with all packages. I hope this makes sense, but please do let us know if we can offer any further assistance.
