I want to highly recommend Caribe Horse for a wonderful horseback adventure. This was an amazing experience riding through the jungle and on the beautiful beaches. Jimmy was a wonderful guide and made the trip really safe and enjoyable. This was a dream come true for me!

Had the best time! As a 50+ newbie, I am grateful for the kindness and patience of the owner/tour guide Jimmy. Along with my sister and niece we had a magical afternoon riding through the jungle and along the beaches of Puerto Viejo. Will be recommending this tour to all of our guests and family visiting the province!

Wonderful walk along the beach. The boy was very nice, he showed us animals along the way and explained everything to us very well.

We were 3 women who were all just a bit nervous, as we hadn’t been on a horse for quite some time. Jimmy was a fabulous guide- he gave us great instructions as to how to handle the horses (they need to know YOU are the boss!) and kept a close eye on us the whole time to keep us safe. The horses are healthy and well cared for- he told us how they were rescued and they all seemed to genuinely love him and sought his attention/approval. Highly recommend this tour! ♥️

Took a ride with this group the week of Feb 5th. Mix of jungle and beach. Great ride. Well taken are of horses. Great guide who pointed out some animals we had not seen. Recommended!

We had a great time with the Jimmy , riding through the jungle and along the beach. Jimmy was a great guide , ensuring everyone was comfortable on their horse and pointing out the wildlife along the route , he even bought us a beer at the halfway point.

We were really looking forward to the horse ride, and it was a great experience! Jimmy showed us some wildlife during the ride, he took us on the beach which was pretty wild because of the rain but this was also part of the experience and fun to do (riding through the water). During the break on the beautiful beach we could stretch the legs a bit and he bought us some drinks. Over all it was an unforgettable experience!
Why not 5 stars? The communication in the beginning was not that super pleasant. Jimmy was a bit sarcastic and pedantic to us, but all we wanted was to be reassured in a kind way since one of us was a bit anxious (first time on a horse). Maybe it would help if you give a bit more information about how the tour will look like etc and a bit more welcoming. It is not hard criticism which need to be discussed, but just pointing out the overall feeling about it. During the rest of the tour Jimmy was really kind and pointing out the risky branches etc. So a very good guide and extremely sweet towards the beautiful horses.

Thank you for your review. Regarding the initial explication, we always try to offer the information necessary for the correct and safe conduct of the tour for horses and riders. As you were able to personally see, the explication and help accompany the entire tour and are not limited to the introduction alone. We also ask you to consider that, even if we would love to, it is unfortunately impossible to satisfy everyone's expectations: just as you would have preferred more details, many other tour participants would have complained about it, they would have considered it tedious and, from experience, we can tell you that there are even those who consider excessive explication insulting (believing that its potential is thereby diminished). We try to offer times and details that respect the feelings of the majority of people, hoping in this way to guarantee a level of general satisfaction and always striving to aim for excellence in the service we offer.
As you have personally seen during the tour, our guide is always attentive to horses and riders, continually offering details and help.
In conclusion, we are sorry you perceived the guide's attitude during the only explication as sarcastic, we can tell you that the intention was not this, at least the idea, eventually is be ironic, lighten and diminish fears, insecurities and tensions which, as you were able to experience, then disappeared.
We are happy to know that the tour, as well as the guide, were ultimately able to meet your expectations, since the activity we offer is exactly that of the tour itself. Thank you again for your contribution.

Jimmy was very kind and knowledgeable. The horses were healthy, safe, and well cared for. The ride was really beautiful. Jimmy led one of our riders who was nervous. The ride was really beautiful! I would definitely do it again.

This was our second trip to Costa Rica this year as we really wanted to return with our younger 14-year old Daughter for Christmas. Out of all the nature, wildlife and adventure tours, this one had it all! Beach, jungle and wildlife all together. The horses were extremely well taken care of and a joy to ride as we covered an amazing distance in a short period. I highly recommend booking this trip for your first day of arrival in the area to find your favorite jungle beach location while on the ride. Also, our guide who happened to be the owner, is an expert on all things Costa Rican and a pleasure to spend Pura Vida with. Cheers to the Caribbean!

Unfortunately, despite my research and reading reviews, I did not enjoy my experience.
I found the guide rude, impatient and he often spoke to me aggressively.
The reins were in bad condition leaving blisters on my hands.
The stables are very difficult to find, signposts would certainly help.
On a positive note, the trail was beautiful, and we saw wildlife which was great however I would not choose to ride with the company again.

Hola, thank you to share your opinion, we are really so sorry for your experience, but we are also surprised as no one of the point you wrote, describe us, the place the staff and the equipment we have (like you also can see from the other review, the pictures and all the descriptions).
In addition we always check the feedback after every ride and we really didn’t have any negative one.
First of all, guests are our precious treasure, we use to have a gentle and really carefully approach with every single guest, as we know how different humans sensibilities can take differently every way of communication. Our staff is the only one in the area made up of certificated professionals, involved in continuous refresher course and all with a long life experience.
Of course, every guide is responsable for you and have to guarantee you safety and the safety of the horses, this is for us a not negotiable point and sometimes we are obligate to be more insistent to be able to guarantee it to you and to the horses especially in the wild trails of the area.
Our equipment is new, all imported and best available quality in Europe and exactly during the 2023 we renew all.
About the location, we provide pick up service and, if guests arrive alone, we provide a GPS point and also a description (our locations is also available in waze and google maps) because, unfortunately, the sign in this area are often removed from the municipality during the constantly work on the road due the strong rains (we are in the rain forrest). In addition, before every tour, we are pending to every possible phone calls to attend our guests and guarantee they are able to found us. Is our same interest clients can found us the day of the tour!!
The goal of everyone of us, is provide the best possible service and we do all the efforts to guarantee an excellent experience. The tours are the way that allow us to provide food and care to our beloved rescue horses and also provide us the way to live. If you really did a tour with us and you feel uncomfortable, that was not for sure our intention and, we suppose, there was some misunderstanding we are sorry you did not show in the moment.
Manage horseback riding tours and horses, require a lot of experience and knowledge to be able to avoid risk and respect the horses and them needs, especially in this wild area of our beautiful south caribbean.
Our staff is the only one made up of professionals certificated guides and horseback riding instructors, veterinary, psico-pedagogist and trainers, all with certificated competences.
Unfortunately we don’t remember we had some guests that feels uncomfortable during one of our tours, as we always check with everyone the feedback after every single ride.
If your experience was really with us, is difficult for us understand who you are, as the feedback were always positive, but of course we are so sorry as it wasn’t our intention.
We are working hard 7 days per week to try to improve always the service we offer and, it should be really a no-sense action, destroyed in only one tour all our daily efforts.
We hope you’ll visit us in the future, to be able to proof and explain you all the work we do and the service we offer.
