Je me suis trouvé dans cette ville pour la fête des lumières, il y avait des charts décorés intéressants, mais pas de parkings prévus, ensuite la fête se poursuivait au bord de la rivière, avec accès toujours difficile. Élections des Miss dans une grande kermesse, nourriture sans originalité. Si vous. souhaitez voir la fête des lumières pour novembre 2020 choisissez plutôt une autre ville comme Chiang Mai.

It's along the main street on the northern side of Chiang Dao town. I've seen it referenced to as along the road/highway 107. However on the maps, 107 by passes the town now. So I'm informed, previously 107 was the road through the town. Now 107 is a new highway by passing the town, and the market is not on that 107. It's on the street through the town.
The market is a local market catering for the locals. We bought the fruits and veges in season there, and the normal street food. There's also clothes and hardware and local supplies, as what you'd see in any local SE Asian street market, even aquarium fish!
There was one or two stalls selling local handy craft by the hill tribes.

This Tuesday market is just 2 rows along the road and has almost everything, from fresh fish, vegetables, fruits to daily tools, clothes, plants, etc..etc.. Not much of hill tribes in their traditional clothes. Quite a sunny place, had to walk below their tents of each stall to take cover. We managed to get some shirts, dresses, T-shirts, pants, etc.. price is cheaper than most places in Chiang Mai and they don't mind bargaining. Each stall sells different products, haven't seen any duplicates, and the locals there are very very honest. They will start packing up by 11.30am, so had to go early. Toilet available in the bus interchange at the end of market, 5 baht for entrance.

It is a functional market so it’s interesting to see what the locals buy (cloths, household goods, vegetables and fruit) but there are no arts and crafts and not many “Hill tribe” people when I went. They have great local food stores.

tous les mardis matin a partir de 6heures, jusqu'a midi, les paysans et autres vendeurs de la region viennent proposer leurs produits , a des prix fort agreables pour le porte-monnaie, et meme pas la peine de marchander, ou si peu, pour la forme.
il y a de tout : nourriture a manger sur place ou a emporter,produits locaux, produits de la montagne, vetements, quincaillerie, chaussures, produits pour la maison, bref une heure ou deux pour bien profiter, avec la majestueuse montagne en fond ( si le temps est au rv )

I go there once per year, buy fruit, clothes, toys.
Sure interesting for tourists, but if you go to Ban aronatai, some 40km up the road just on the Burmese border you will find a market that's 10 times more fascinating.
That market is on Friday between 6am and noon.

Der Markt bietet sehr viel zu sehen, schmecken, erleben... und hat eine Größe, von der ich sagen würde, dass sich die Anfahrt sicher lohnt.

The Tuesday morning market is a nice way to spend a couple of hours. It is a proper market and not geared towards tourists in the same way that those in Chiang Mai are.
The fruit on sale is fantastic and very reasonably priced. We just wished that we were staying somewhere with a kitchen so that we could buy and cook the fish and vegetables being sold. They looked fantastic.
