This small museum holds some amazing examples of fossils, tools, and other pre-historic artifacts from the area. It also provides a very interesting account of the siege of Minerve that took place when the Catholic church went about exterminating the Cathars.
This museum also provides your only opportunity to access l'Eglise St. Etiene, the amazing 11th century church in Minerve. This church features an altar with engravings that date back to the Visigoths. This stone tablet was recovered from the previous church site that dates back even farther. It's a very interesting story.
The museum staff is very friendly and speak english very well. Minerve is an amazing place to visit on it's own, but the Musee Paleontologique provides a deeper understanding of the place and it's important history.

This museum is not big, it is charming and feels a little outdated but has some nice things to see. It's interesting that all things on display are from Minerve or the surroundings. Price is low. Very helpful and friendly staff.

First I would say that the archeological artifacts they have on display are amazing, many go back millions of years. A separate part of the museum has a history of Minerve and the Cathers when they inhabited it.
Unfortunately the museum is limited in it’s visitor potential because everything is in French. That’s fine as long as you only want to appeal to French visitors. The only translations we found were some laminated cards that described the town’s siege in 1210. It would have been much more informative had the large archeological signs had translations.
