I am a pensioner who made a 40 mile round trip to visit this quaint shopping centre. I found the parking experience quite daunting as my eye sight is not as good as it used to be. When paying I had to enter my car registration and either pay cash or by card, there was a queue of people behind me and I felt under pressure. About a week later I received a penalty notice for £100 or £60 if I paid within 14 days. I still have the parking ticket which I had entered incorrectly but was close to my actual reg. I have issued an appeal/ complaint and if I am unsuccessful I will not return again and warn as many people I can not to go. BEWARE of this money making SCAM!!!

I recently parked in Marshalls Yard car park for just over an hour. Put my registration into the machine and it told me I owed £0.50 which I paid.
A couple of weeks later I got a fine of £100 or £60 if paid within 14 days. I appealed this fine. I have just got a reply to say my appeal has failed because I failed to pay my £0.50 within 20 minutes of arrival.
These poeple are con artists out to rip poeple off.

We live in the Newark area and drive over to Marshall's Yard often. A great selection of shops in a confined area. An excellent development that has really made the most of the space. Sympathetically designed, plenty of room to park and wander at your convenience. A shame that Wilkos has gone now, always a handy shop to pick up your homewares.
Jysk, Next, The Range, M&S Food Hall, Browns, Holland & Barret, Pep & Co and many others.
Something for all the family and a pleasant change from the High Street environment.

Came online to see if anyone else had issues parking here and clearly they have. Received a £100 fine for not paying, even though I did. I kept my ticket & had typed one digit of my reg incorrectly. They said I still owe them £20! Absolutely ridiculous.

I walk 15 or 20 from time to time to get there and I usually take it as an exercise or not if I take the shopping cart, well it's sad to read comments about parking, there should be better management; regarding the stores there are good and bad sides too, you can buy almost anything for your house even without Wilko but regarding clothing it's not recommended going unless you are buying something very basic for sleep, fleece or a must have from Next cos it's very basic, then Browns it's good, small but too pricey unless you know what you want from them, something very very specific, then from Poundland or Tesco It depends because of the quality, then if you want your sport or exercise kit you are properly sorted with Sports Direct unless they ran out of designs or sizes for you. Many coffee shops there and in the area too.

Car parking cowboy outfit
Like many others of you on here. I have fallen fowl of ce enforcement car parking scam.
Paid my £1 , obtained ticket which was displayed , stayed 2 hours and left. I have proof of payment but I now have to appeal.
Please, shoppers, read reviews on here and Google ce enforcement reviews to see how many people have incurred ccj/ court action. Some are pensioners, hospital patients etc. Please avoid visiting marshalls yard and write to your local MP

Visited no 17 coffee lounge as id heard it was amazing, didnt get a welcoming hello infact the lady looked like she would have liked to be else where, i had the jacket potato with coronation chicken and a bit of salad it was ok nothing special for the price, my other half had salmon and poached eggs, the eggs were as hard as rock, but he was told if they too hard he would make some more, why serve them like that in the first place? And then id have to eat mine alone. 2 snacks 2 coffees £25 not worth the visit.

I made the mistake of parking here to take some friends to a restaurant.
At least one parking machine was out of order creating a long queue at another.
When it was my turn I naturally hurried and did not inspect the ticket issued.
Two weeks later I received a penalty notice in the post for £60 or £120 if not paid immediately, this it seems was due to the machine not printing the full registration I entered.
It has cost me worry, time writing to them and in the end £20. I will never park in Marshall's yard again and that means I will never visit any of it's restaurants again!

Like many other people on here, I was subject to the parking fine scam. Apart from the small print trap, I think it is appalling to be charged for parking to visit a specific shopping location anyway! The owners should be trying to attract custom, not drive it away with extortionate demands for even just getting there by car!

I paid gor parking then received a notification which showed I was 12 seconds over the 2 hours paid for.
I kid you not. 12 seconds.
I now have a fine of £60. That is £5 per second.

The Marshall's Yard car park service provider is Civil Enforcement Ltd. (CEL). They are widely recognised as 'Parking Cowboys' operating on privately-owned land such as retail car parks. They derive their income from PCNs for breaking terms and conditions. Go to the website for parkingcowboys.
I was issued with a PCN letter some 3-months after the alleged parking offence demanding £140 to avoid court proceedings. According to CEL I had 'exceeded the maximum 4-hours free parking'. The thing is .... there is no free parking at Marshall's Yard. It is Pay & Display site and I paid £1 for a ticket for 4-hours but it cutting me short at 6:00 pm. I also happen to have evidence by way of my paid and dated ticket. I look forward to appearing at the Small Claims Court and making a counter claim against these scammers. Marshall's Yard Property Ltd. are complicit in this by awarding the contract CEL. Shame on them.

BE AWARE! !!
I've recently received a Parking Charge Notice whilst parking in Marshall Yard Gainsborough. . . I arrived at 17.18pm and tried putting £1 into the ticket machine but the ticket machine would NOT accept my £1 stating that it is more than required and would only accept 50p and I guessed the reason was because parking is FREE after 6pm!!! This is NOT the case and I have been fined £60 if I pay within 14days and £100 within 28 . . . I am appalled by what has happened and more so because I didn't keep my parking ticket so felt I had no evidence to appeal. . . The PCN also offers NO address to appeal only to pay! !! and when I did pay the company offered me NO reference number as evidence of paying.
My lesson learned today is KEEP MY PARKING TICKETS FOR A WHILE. I am not the only person this has happened to.

The Car Parking arrangements at Marshall's Yard are operated by 'rogue traders' and Marshall's Yard are complicit in this. They appointed them as their agents. The signage states Car Parking Charges apply to vehicles arriving between 08:30 and 18:00. Even if you pay up to 18:00 with a valid displayed Car Parking Ticket the parking company are likely to try scam you with a PCN if you remain for more that 4-hours. My friend and I ate at Prezzo and a leisurely meal can slip past 4-hours. Neither of us were issued with a PCN ticket on our car windscreens. We paid for parking. Some 3-months later we received Penalty Letters to our home address. I have appealed to Civil Enforcement Ltd and Marshall's Yard but neither had the good grace to reply. I have complained to the British Parking Association, Lincolnshire Trading Standards, BBC Watchdog/Rogue Traders etc. I will go to the Small Claims Court and/or County Courts to contest and make a counter claim. From reading blogs this is a common scam. Why any person or retail business would use the facilities at Marshall's Yard knowing rogue traders are threatening vehicle owner with an extortion racket like this is a mystery. My scam letter said I had exceeded the '4-hours free parking' ... how can that be when there is no free parking .. only Pay and Display.
If Marshall's Yard had any integrity they would stop this racket immediately or at the very least state 'Maximum 4-hours paid at any time' and not declare the charge times of 08:30 to 18:00. Let's see what the Courts and BBC Rogue Traders have to say about this? These parking arrangement are a hidden scandal. I will let the courts decide and then go public.
