A waterfall that impresses not because of its height, but because of its enormous width. It is also known as Sopheakmit Waterfall. The road here is very dusty, as it is an unpaved road. It is best to arrive with a private driver.

The longest waterfall in Cambodia.
Located in Preah Vihear province, on the Mekong River at the Cambodia-Lao border is a spectacular waterfall/cascade often referred to as Preah Nimith Waterfall (ទឹកធ្លាក់ព្រះនិមិត្), or the Lbak Khoun waterfall. November to May is the prime time to visit for clear water with it being quite ‘muddy’ during the rainy season.
You can get to the waterfall in about an hour from Steung Treng town. Some people also like to visit Preah Romkel and take a boat to see the Irrawaddy dolphin.

Beautiful scenery, Mekong River flowing over the rocks with powerful force falling down the rocks at several places, so there are about 5 or 6 falls to be seen. Yet save to get into the river by the banks and splash around.

The largest waterfall on earth, counted by the whith of the Mekong River, but you see really only 800 m of the enormous river. Anyway the views are very interesting and the surrounding park is well organised.

More than 40km from Steung Treng city and you need to get more than 30km off road which almost 1 hour 30min drive to reach destination with off road and bumpy road with dust with mud and quiet. So avoid driving at night time and raining time. Car entrance only 5000riel and you will definitely amaze because those water naturally fall so heavy and sound really nature and it’s definitely dangerous to play so most of tourists are coming here for a memorable photos only.

Traveled with family to waterfall and it is beautiful and close to border between Cambodia and Lao , it is very big waterfall places in Cambodia and it about 5 up to 6 km wide and can swim also some area but there are no internet access now at waterfall area. Have some guesthouses and it is nice and quiet to stay there but most of Travellers they continue to stay at stung treng city , it is about 45 km from waterfall. The road to waterfall it very good condition but it is also very Dusty.

Amazing place!! However, you need a permit to travel to the area. Furthermore, it is wise to travel with locals (i.e., they now the ins and outs of how to get there, what/whom to visit, and most importantly: How to respect the place and the people in the area).

Being on the border of Cambodia and Laos in Stung Treng and Preah Vihear provinces it really is a gem to behold. Shared with friends felt a spiritual experience. The wonder of life and feeling put in place and perspective. A joy to visit and behold

Die Anfahrt ist etwas beschwerlich, man muss gut Achten, dass man auch wirklich zum Wasserfall fährt. Die Fälle nicht sehr hoch, doch wahnsinnig Breit. Wenn man bedenkt, dass man ja nur bis zur ersten Zwischeninsel sieht (der Mekong ist hier über 10km breit) und dann überlegt wieviel Wasser durchfliesst ist es doch sehr beeindruckend.
Nach der Regenzeit ist das Wasser durch die Sedimente braun. Nichts desto trotz schön zu sehen.

Preah Nimith Waterfall / Stung Treng / Preah Runcal / Koh Ker:
Hidden Cambodia Adventure Tours, Siem Reap runs tours to this waterfall from Siem Reap, minimum 2 days. Ideally it can be made as part of a 3 days tour so a full circle loop can be done. Taxi or minibus or dirt bike.
Day 1 Siem Reap to StungTreng, lunch Stung Treng & afternoon tour combined cycling and kayaking and other cultural stops on Mekong.
Day 2 - Stung Treng to Preah Nimith Waterfall and overnight at luxurious resort there or continue to a homestay or basic guest house at the village of Preah Runkel
Day 3 Preah Runkel through to Koh Ker temple and Seyong back to Siem Reap.

Another question, we will be coming from Phnom Penhand as it is quite a long journey we think of coming in the evening to Stung Treng and staying there at the hotel. How long does it take to get to the waterfall from there? I keep finding such a contradicting staements online, any help will be appreciated. Or maybe there is a another place to stay close to waterfall?

Thank you for your planing to visit Cambodia , as you plan from Phnom Penh to Steung Treng , it is a bit long trip , it take about 8 hours drive from Phnom Penh to Steung Treng , there is one hotel close to the waterfall and the road is good condition from Phnom Penh to Treung Treng and from Steung Treng to Waterfall and for Treung Treng city to waterfall it take about 45 minute drive, there more hotel at Treung Treng city too.

we went yo.preah nimith waterfal last month and the permit is on site and it is beautiful place to see . For the access to go there is good but at the waterfal now there are no mobile network .
