博物館はおまけだということで最初からお土産目的で入店。ノーマル太陽餅と蜂蜜入りの2種類セットを購入。
台中は駅周辺にも太陽餅を売っているお店がいくつかあって、こんなに推しているとは知らなかった。

朝早かったせいか、1階のショップに店員さんが2人いただけで、他にはお客さんもいませんでした。
展示は２階なので、１階の入口を入ったら右手にある階段を使って上がります。
確かに、写真等の展示はありますが、博物館ってほどではないような気がします。
ちょっと残念な感がありました。
2階の反対側には、喫茶室がありましたが、やっていたかどうかはわかりません。(伺ったのは朝9時くらい)
１階のショップには太陽餅が売っていたので、お土産に買いました。
この辺りには、太陽餅の店が多いので、どこで買ったらよいか迷いましたが、博物館っていう名前につられてこちらで購入しました。
他と比べていないので、味の比較はできません。

There are two highlights of the attraction
(1) It is a historic building
Built in 1903, The building was originally called Chuan An Tang (全安堂, means Hall of Safety and Peace), served as a medicine shop. It is a beautiful red and white decorated "Tatsuno Style" building. "Tatsuno Style architecture" is a particular architectural style popularized by Japanese architect Tatsuno Kingo (辰野 金吾1854-1919).
Tatsuno was a famous Japanese architect. He was the designer of the Tokyo Station and many noted buildings in Japan, and also had a strong influence on Japanese colonial architecture such as those in Manchu (North Eastern China) and Taiwan from the late 19th to early 20th century.
Of course this building was not designed by Tatsuno himself. It is just a "Tatsuno Style” architecture. (the designer is unknown)
The current Presidential Office of Taiwan ( the former Office of the Governor-General of Taiwan.during Japanese colonial period) is the most known "Tatsuno Style” architecture in Taiwan. Actually, the designer of the Office building, Uheiji Nagano, was a student of Tatsuno Kingo.
(2) It is now a Museum of Suncake (a small museum)
Suncake is one of the most popular Taiwanese dessert. It is originated from Taichung. The cake is a sweet pastry featuring multiple layers and maltose filling. In addition to the exhibition of the secret and history of Suncake, there are a cultural and creative product store, and a restaurant. In the DIY section, visitors can learn how to make the cake. Of course, you can buy Suncake and other Taiwanese delights (e.g., pineapple cake).here.

通常のお店の一部に、昔の資料などが展示されているだけだったので、期待して行くと残念です。
販売されている太陽餅の試食などもあり、お土産を買いに行くという感じで行くなら良いと思います。
