Lishan is a mountain area that is wonderfully cool even when the rest of Taiwan is baking hot. The cool mountain environment is well-known for producing the world's best oolong tea. The temperate climate and fine tea make Lishan a popular weekend getaway. For overseas visitors, it's a slice of Taiwan life that they rarely see.

Lishan is located up in the mountains. It is lovely and cool, even in Taiwan's sweltering summer. Many of the locals are indigenous people. The main industry is horticulture, the fruit is delicious and the tea is famous in Taiwan and abroad. The road is prone to landslides, if you intend stopping over it would be wise to make a reservation in advance. You may need a local to assist you. By the way, the scenery is breath-taking.

梨山是台灣早年熱門的高山風景區，也是溫帶水果的重要種植區。近年因為交通、環保等各種不利因素，還有清境等其他高山風景區興起競爭，梨山相對沒落許多。這幾年隨著梨山賓館整修後恢復營業，還有福壽山農場可以賞櫻賞楓，觀光客逐漸增加。梨山街上最醒目的就是大紅色北方宮殿式建築的梨山賓館，只是與周遭中央山脈的景致不太協調。賓館周邊的梨山街上還是雜亂的水果攤，賞楓旺季的週末下午擠滿了採買的遊客。梨山的中橫公路兩側開始整治，有步道、觀景台、楓之谷公園，希利克步道尾端的攬勝樓可以眺望雪山山脈、德基水庫，視野非常好。
現在梨山的觀光重心是海拔更高的福壽山農場，深秋季節農場本部的松盧旁有不少高大的楓樹，豔紅的掌葉覆蓋在樸質的木屋上，略有京都紅葉風情，也吸引了爆滿的拍照遊客，很難取景。楓葉季晴朗的週末，整個福壽山農場大塞車，天池、場本部都有交通管制，開車要多點耐心。前往天池半路上的製茶廠後方有一排楓樹，完全沒有遊客，可以盡情欣賞深秋的紅葉美景。

台八線不開通, 要去梨山都要到台14繞好大一圈才會到
光是交通就讓人卻步了, 到那邊哪還有心情繼續逛
風景是不錯, 但是下次要再開那麼久的車才能到真的會很不想

路小車多、人山人海是我的對假日梨山的感受！未規劃停車場，車亂停的現象造成行車不易。風景區楓紅不少但未好好整理有點亂
，現場很多水果攤位，水果很漂亮但價位頗高！匆匆到快快離開的景區

Stayed for 1-day here
A run down small town
Flies were living and resting peacefully locals’ bodies
Locals were quite cold and distant except the bakery owner - the only bakery in town and the young guy in a grocery store
Walked around the town and nearby area for 2-hour : still not particularly impressive
Scenery from Taroko to here though was stunning.
Still - not recommended !

梨山賓館很有歷史了，小時候的記憶，高山景緻漂亮壯麗，但果樹種太多山林亂墾亂伐，山坡地被破壞，沿路水管亂牽很醜陋。是蠻可惜的。

In Lishan Scenic Area, we saw many aboriginal people and visited three tribes, each with distinctive characterisitcs. The local fruit, such as snow pears, persimmons, honey apples, are very delicious and only grow here. It took a long time to arrive this place, but is worthy of visiting once in a while to enjoy the beautiful scenery, friendly people, fruit, tea, etc. The tea in Lishan is very popular both in Taiwan and outside of Taiwan.
