We were 4 girl friends celebrating 35 years of friendship. We decided to go to Taiwan for the food. But we also wanted to see the sights. We found David online and it was the perfect start to our trip. He fetched us at the airport at 9am and we proceeded with the day tour of Sun Moon Lake. We had a very nice Caravelle van to ourselves, he gave us delicious guava to munch on, and water. He was very flexible when we decided to go to the Ropeway as well. The only blight was the rainy weather which of course was no one's fault. At the end of the day, he dropped us at our hotel. It was a very good use of time and we learned a lot as David used to be a professor as well. He also gave us food recommendations and the ones we tried was spot on. The price was reasonable and we paid at the end of the tour. We highly recommend David to everyone!

Just finished a most enjoyable 7- day journey around Taiwan with David Liaw of My Taiwan Journey. From the moment David welcomed us in Taipei we knew we were in for a great tour. He is a professional tour operator with a spacious comfortable van and is a very safe driver. We felt very at ease from the start with David’s friendly approach and communication in English. David is a wealth of information about the history, people, and places we visited. He enjoyed answering our many questions and telling us more as we toured. We were able to flex our daily agenda to spend more time exploring areas we enjoyed. David’s recommendations for restaurants and meal selections were appreciated as it allowed us to enjoy a wide variety of Taiwan’s cuisine around the country. On my next trip to Taiwan to explore more of the National Parks will definitely plan with My Taiwan Journey.

Six of us booked a 1-week excursion around Taiwan with David. We hit all the major cities, saw Yangmingshan, Beitou, Jihshan, Tamsui, Toroko Gorge, Baqi, Shitiping...ending with sunrise at Alishan and Sun Moon Lake. David picked us up at our hotel every morning in his van and dropped us off at the next hotel every evening. In addition to remarkable breadth of expertise, David also gave us pointers on where to eat and what to order.
Within 4 hours of contacting him from the US, David responded with a proposed itinerary and price quote. Several back and forths followed with additional tweaks and David unfailing came back with detailed itinerary changes. Talking to David, he does everything from 1-day tours to 8-day ones like ours. His is a 1-man show that is fully customizable.
All that and a very nice guy to boot...

We booked with David for a 7D6N custom trip around Taiwan in Jan 2023. He was courteous, helpful, reliable, and prompt throughout the entire process, even calling with us before we even decided to choose him. It is so rare to be able to find a tour guide/company who is so flexible, willing to do private tours, yet still reasonably priced.
Each morning David was early and ready to go. David was a fountain of knowledge, somehow knowing a little bit of everything, from history and food recommendations to botany and geographical formations. There were no issues with driving skills even through some windy mountain roads.
All in all, David is an excellent choice for a guide if you are visiting Taiwan and would strongly recommend!

We hired David around 6 months before our trip and made many changes to the places we wanted to go. He was very flexible with the changes and came up with a concise route to travel around Taiwan. However our
trip clashed with the Covid-19 case and we were worried to travel to Taiwan. David reassured us that it is safe for us to travel to Taiwan and told us that he even had a few tourist he guided a week ago. Hence we decided to go to Taiwan!
David is paasionate, responsible and always punctual. He would also go the extra mile to buy my family fruits in the morning and also provide us with umbrellas when it was raining. Furthermore, David is extremely knowledgable! Along the road he would always provide us with detailed information about places and even trees and flowers!! On top of that, he also knows many good photo-taking spots and help my family take photos. He is well connected with the people at different parts of Taiwan too. David would also recommend us food places that we MUST try which ARE really good!! He is also very humorous so that we wouldnt be bored throughout the whole trip. He ensured that everyone in my family had fun and felt the warmth and passion of the Taiwanese, of which we really did!!
Overall, my family really enjoyed our trip with David definitely would contact him again if we are back in Taiwan!! Highly recommend !!

We hire David as driver and his 8-seater VW for 6 days for our family of 5 around part of the Taiwan Island. David is a careful and responsible driver, always punctual with time and he is flexible with travelling schedule to suit our need. David is never too fuzz to go the extra miles to help us throughout our journey. David is also very knowledgeable about all the tourist attractions, great food places,and also very passionate about his country, TAIWAN. We have had a great time seeing the beautiful places, the only regret is lack of time to see more, we will definitely be back again. We have no problem recommending David to anyone for his great service. THANK YOU DAVID!

We love David!! David took us around Taiwan for 8 days. I chose him initially as I read other reviews that he is knowledgeable and could share many interesting information about Taiwan. It turns out exactly as others have reviewed. My dad definitely enjoys all the interesting information. He even walk with us to many of the sites and give us detailed information and he could entertain the kids at the same time. David is also a very careful driver. He drove us through the hardest part of Taiwan which is from Hehuanshan to Hualien. He also bought us fruits, supply us with umbrellas and raincoats. When our journey ended, even my youngest 5 yrs old boy ask when are we sitting in David's car again. Everybody misses his good service and his stories. We will definitely engage his service again if we are back in Taiwan, highly recommended!!

David is a knowledgeable, responsive, responsible tour guide.

David brought us around for 10 days in Nov 2019. My 2nd trip with him, the 1st was in Mar 2017.
David is very knowledgeable and is able to expressively describe the places of interests to us. He goes his way out to introduce good dining places and ensure we are well taken care of.
You wont go wrong with him. :)
