位于台湾台南市，五妃庙奉祀清初随明宁靖王殉国的五位侍妾，目前已列为一级古迹，其中流传着一段忠烈凄美的故事，令后人惋惜不已。宁靖王朱术桂为明太祖九世孙辽王的后裔，明永历18年（1664年），随郑经来台，永历37年（1683年）清军攻台，明军败退，朱术桂决心以身殉社稷，他随侍的姬妾与婢女，袁氏、王氏、秀姑、梅姐、何姐等五人闻讯，相继自缢以全节，宁靖王将她们合葬于南门外的魁斗山，翌日挥别故旧从容自缢，结束明末纷扰多难的国祚。后人感其忠贞，尊为五妃娘娘，建庙奉祀。墓庙合一的五妃庙，小巧玲珑，庙分拜亭、正殿及左右厢房，内祀五妃神位。庙右侧有一小祠“义灵君”，奉祀随宁靖王从死之义、灵二侍宦，庙左前方，有一五妃庙的纪念石碑。五妃墓冢紧扣庙后，周边已整修为公园，园中林木蓊郁，极为雅致幽静。这里为您提供了五妃庙的各种相关信息，全面透视五妃庙，这里是您通往五妃庙的直通车，这里就是您的到到网。

We'd read a bit about this temple before visiting and were entranced by the large grounds upon entering. They dwarf the small temple, which as of mid-January 2025, looked to be partially under renovation. It's a nice enough temple, but not awe-inspiring. It's definitely worth a quick visit, though, for its unique story and beautiful surroundings.

The shrine is dedicated two five concubines of the Prince of Ningjing who committed suicide in 1683 rather than submit to their Qing conquerors after military defeat. The gardens are very well kept but the shine itself in unremarkable. The site was almost deserted when we visited.

This simple temple is in the heart of Tainan. It has two wings, with a small shrine at the side. The temple was constructed in 1683, to commemorate an incident in Chinese history that is both uplifting and sad. The Five Imperial Concubines, hearing of the fall of the Ming Dynasty, refused to live under the alien rulers and, along with their Lord, hanged themselves. Wufei Temple, also known as Five Imperial Concubines Temple, represents a rare event in Chinese history that is both sad, and a demonstration of sincere devotion. Taiwan was a centre of Ming Dynasty resistance to the all-conquering Manchus, who established the Ching Dynasty. The Ming loyalist, Koxinga, surrendered to the Manchus in 1683. Ning Ching, a Ming Dynasy follower, heard that the island would be surrendered and vowed to take his own life as an act of protest. His five concubines, in an act of devotion, hanged themselves. The five concubines were posthumously elevated to the rank of princess and this simple temple was erected in their honour.

台南に滞在中こちらの場所を訪れました。台南運動公園の北側に有るお寺で、明朝の時代の寧靖王が戦いに敗れ殉死を決意した際、５人のお妃が先に命を絶ったという悲話があり、その魂をお祀りしてこちらの御廟が建てられたと知りました。女性的なイメージが印象的な美しい廟でした。

紀念明鄭時期明寧靖王五位妃子因國破山河不在隨君王殉國之廟。廟本身為單進兩護龍式的建築，規模不大，護龍有簡單的說明廟的歷史原由與建築特色。整個園區整理得非常乾淨，環境清幽，宛如公園般，很適合在此放鬆心情漫步其中。近台南大學，週遭有很多餐廳與小吃，來此可順道體驗台南美食。

... and as others have noted, there is a great deal of ground around this small temple, so it creates a very serene and spiritual place that is clearly off the beaten track. Only us and another pair of tourists visited the entire time we were there. (We sat and soaked in the ambiance a bit.) I'd advice going!

The temple is small, but the premises are quite large and well maintained. The story of five concubines, suicided on the defeat of the Ming dynasty, is triste, and thinking of that I visited this temple.
