Dating back to 1906, it is a Japanese-Western Eclectic Architecture style building. Used to be the official residence of Yilan Magistrates during the Japanese colonial period.
The architecture and garden are beautiful and elegant. The building was transformed into a memorial hall in 1997.
There is a permanent exhibition which displays the documents, old photos and cultural relics of the establishment of Yilan Administration. Worth a visit.

We biked from Yilan Station to this place. It showcased the history of Yilan duirng the Japanese occupied era. The exhibits tell many details bring you back to that era. The Japnese style garden is nice and quiet.

由宜蘭火車站步行過來約二十分鐘，是市區內的一個充滿日式建築風格的紀念館，園區收費但內裡日式庭園流水景觀很好拍照留念。

這個小小的紀念館是日治時期宜蘭廳長西鄉菊次郎所建，日洋合璧。館內要脫鞋參觀，外面的枯山水、庭院造景保持良好，七里香芬芳宜人，是個舒適的景點。

It is maybe one of the main touristic attractions in Yilan. The old Japanese house itself has a historical value. It was considered and used as a residence of governor during Japanese time. And its displays about Japanese administration at that time are also quite interesting.

設治紀念館濃厚的日式風格以及飽和歷史足跡的介紹值得作為下午的悠閒去處。常常有旅客來此拍照。
