The two steam trucks exhibited in the park in front of the National Taiwan Museum are all early Taiwanese trucks made in Europe in the late 19th century. The first on the left was made in Germany in 1887 and operated between Taipei and Jiangsu in 1924, while the right one was made in the United Kingdom in 1871 earlier than Tangsu and already operated between Tokyo and Yokohama in Japan. On the other hand, it was moved to the Japanese ruler of Taiwan in 1901 and became the "No. 9" until its departure in 1925. These are historic trains donated directly to the museum along with degeneration, but they are hard to preserve in glass.

博物館のすぐ近く。薄暗い場所で、覆っているガラスがやや曇り気味だったので撮影はせず。じっくりというより蚊を気にしながらサクっと見ることになってしまったが、博物館とあわせて見学すべき場所だと思う。

This exhibit is located just outside the main Museum building in Taipei. It is hard to get a good look at these two ancient Japanese steam locomotives, given their glass case is so reflective. It is best to go at night when they are lit from within. One of them dates back to the original Tokyo-Yokohama line of over 150 years ago.

Taiwan benefitted greatly from advances in technology during the Japanese colonial era. This locomotive was at forefront of technology during the 19th century, and helped propell the economy of Taiwan into the modern age. The locomotive was the harbinger of modernity. Of course, Taiwan had to wait many years fordiesel locomotives.

This steam locomotive pre-dates the Japanese colonial era (1895-1945). It's very old -- some 150 years old. It's in surprisingly good condition for its age. It is housed in 2-28 Park, near the Taipei Main Train Station

Most technological innov tions in Taiwan date from the Japanese colonial era (1895-1945) but these ancient locos predate that, from the 19th late century. They are housed in a perspex shelter, in a corner of 2-28 Peace Park They are well preserved, and well worth a detour if you are visiting the park. The locos are some 150 years old.

These two engines, one of German manufacture and the other of English manufacture, go back to the very early days of Taiwan's railways. One loco was built in 1871 and the other in 1887 -- that's around 150 years ago. The engines are in a transparent structure, no doubt to protect them from the effects of the elements. The locos are in a corner of 2-28 Peace Park. As something of a train buff, I found these primitive but hardy workhorses of the rails a monument to mankind's mechanical ingenuity.
