Visit this museum with my companion and my 8-year-old son. I sincerely tuck my hat to this museum, because the battle elements are beautifully presented without shocking young children and the communication is modern without obscuring the gravity of what happened.

Located halfway between Rethel and Charleville, I recommend this magnificent museum that traces the 3 wars against the German invader.

Takes you all the way the 1800's to end of WW2. It is in many senses a tradional museum but it draws you in quite magnificently to the horrors of war, for the soldiers and the rest of the population. The films were very moving. The section on the rise of the nazi's was very poignant, given the current political climate in Europe and the UK. Maybe not a museum for the very young or those who lack concentration but truely worth a visit.

Excellent museum. €20 for family of 2 adults 3 children. Kept attention of children with digital maps visualisation of movement of armies plus videos. Most had English and German translation. The 1870 war information put the two world wars into context for us. Took us at least 3 hours to go around. Highly recommend this well-designee, well-presented and extremely interesting museum to all.

Magnificent museum which is definitely worth the detour. Very successful presentation of the three wars 1870, 14/18 and 39/45. Will interest adults and children alike with appropriate panels and explanations.

we went to visit the war and peace museum of Nouvion porcien welcome very well and at the end of the visit we wanted to drink a coffee impossible the person at the counter saw us arrive we took a table and we waited more than 15 minute and in the end not served she turned her back on us and only tried to discuss with her colleague on the other hand the agents of the general council arrived paines we served them immediately and we nothing very angry

We were received by the director, welcoming, smiling and passionate. The museum is very beautiful with quite a few objects of all kinds from the three conflicts presented, it also has a great diversity in the presentations between showcase, model, projected videos and immersion in the daily life of soldiers through sophisticated decorations, you have something to please everyone!

Indeed, its location, a little set back from the expressways, will not prevent you from visiting it, well signposted and with ample free parking, this museum will delight you. For my part, having frequented and visited many museums of this type and theme, I rank it at the highest level. In addition its entry price is really cheap and its visiting hours accessible, it is still a museum on 3 great wars: 1870, 14/18 and 39/45!!
The tour route is incredibly well done and explained with its numerous panels and comments (often in several languages) the progression is logical, the scenography superb and modern: touch screens, video projection rooms, slideshows, panoramic windows, models, mannequins in situation....etc We see that the museum team (very professional) contributes to doing everything possible to offer you an unforgettable and informative visit with surely incredible discoveries on these 3 wars, it's big, count 3 good ones hours at least. Note for "players", an escape game (also inexpensive) installed in the museum and visible from the panoramic balconies.

Very well documented museum, very well explained: we saw children absolutely 'embedded' in Great History. Photos, films, posters, leaflets, vehicles, costumes... everything is fascinating. One downside, however: we know that the Museum closes at 5 p.m. but, caught up in the visit, we don't pay attention to the time.. The film stops suddenly and we find ourselves in the dark!!! A message on the microphone would be useful... other than that, a must-see museum.

The museum is modern, very well organized with lots of objects - weapons, uniforms, vehicles etc. But the museum is especially interesting with its emphasis on the consequences of war for civilians.
Lots of maps, posters and educational explanations without being boring.
An effort - successful - is made for the children.
In short, a superb museum.

Is there transportation available from Reims to visit your museum? We are planning to visit on a Sunday and rental cars do not appear to be open. thank you.

Unfortunately if you do not have a car it is quite difficult and expensive to get there. Train from Reims to Rethel 24 minutes (cost about 18 euros return) then taxi to the museum from the station, about 7 miles. The museum costs 8 Euro. As I said in my post you really need a car. We took our car from Scotland over in the ferry to Belgium. By car it is 45 mins from Reims A34 to Rethel exit 16. Follow D985 to Novion Porcien then the D8 and D21. The museum is signposted from the village. That of course is not possible if you are coming from the U.S.A.
