Gorgeous gardens full of beautiful flowers, shrubs and trees. Every aspect of this garden was creative and interesting, we especially loved the lily ponds, clipped yew hedges and the wildflower areas. The gardens are full of bees, butterflies and birds - so so English country garden, bliss!

We were first recommended to visit The Courts Garden, at the end of last-year’s season. As a consequence we waited throughout the winter closure. The opening date in early February this year, coincided with a change in the weather (for the worse after an unusually sunny January); thus causing more delays to our planned visit. Then much of March and early April were dull, wet and windy, so yet again the cause of delays.
Finally today, in mid-April, we managed to visit and, as a consequence, the floral displays were well advanced with an abundance of, notably, Tulips, late Daffodils, Bluebells, Glory of the Snow, and some very small blue flowers that we couldn’t identify. There was also Apple Blossom in abundance, and some gorgeous early leafed Acers (a personal favourite borne out by the fact that we have seven acers in our own gardens).
Here at the Court Gardens gardens are laid-out as 'garden rooms' at the behest of the wife of a former owner. This work was a project in the early years of the 20th Century. The whole area covers seven acres being a mixture of woodland with many varieties of trees, plus lawns, (with topiary hedging, and floral borders), and an extensive water garden with pools and a small very photogenic, but functional, ornamental footbridge.
There is a house in the garden, but it is closed-up and mostly unused: one wonders why? At the back of the house there is a room open to allow picnickers to sit at tables and have shelter.
This utterly charming site is soon to be furnished with a café, but at the moment there isn’t one. I hope that once open it will look-out on what are captivating views full of structure and colour.
There is no onsite carparking but there is a carpark within a 2-3 minute walk behind the Village Hall in ‘The Midlands’ a road on the opposite side of the main street, from the entrance to the Courts Garden.

We spent just over an hour at The Courts Gardens and had an enjoyable time. The grounds are not so large, and there are plenty of benches to stop and take in the scenery.
Given the time of the year, some parts of the garden were in impressive bloom, especially the Tulips, although other parts looked in need of a little care.
It was a shame that there were no catering facilities on site as a cup of tea and perhaps some cake would have gone down well on a warm afternoon.
We were able to park in the village hall car park just opposite the entrance, which is available to visitors to the Gardens.

We visited on a glorious sunny day when many of the spring flowers were looking their best. My son (aged 6) was really engaged with the trail asking him to spot different patterns in the garden (e.g. brick paths or designs on urns or benches) - it was lovely to see him enjoying this so much. He also really enjoyed the wooden 'chimes' and weighing scales in the Forest School, which the lady on reception particularly highlighted as worth a visit. The exhibition about the garden past and present is updated monthly and the display showing head gardeners through the years, alongside their 'uniform' was a lovely and unusual touch. The Courts Garden is close to Lacock, and you can visit both in one day, so if you have National Trust membership don't just go to the larger, better known venue!

We have visited here several times over the years but it seems to have had a bit of extra tlc and is looking particularly good. Lovely vegetable garden complete with planting like marigolds to prevent grub damage. Young children will enjoy running around and hiding because there are lots of garden ‘rooms’. A plant finder app Is useful. Used book store and currently good ice creams and hot drinks available from a silver Citroen sort of Winnebago run by Italians. It is all very photogenic and calming. A few plants to buy and postcards but not a commercial venture. Never very busy so distancing easy and hand sanitiser readily available.

Very pleasant visit, we stayed 3 hours.
Level, but gravel and path surfaces not easy for a wheelchair.

What a pleasure this modest gardens were. Arriving just as the gardens opened and met by enthusiastic volunteers who are keen to share this special site.
Formal lawns, woodland and water gardens are all here.
It was great fun watching dragon files on the ponds, and the photographers trying to catch the perfect shot of them in flight.
Only slight disappointment was the catering facilities which were sub par, little in the way of GF options and the refrigerator was not working very well as cold drinks barely cool and the chocolate cake soft when it was supposed to be crisp
Nice place to spend time

We arrived around 4pm on a week day. Wandered around this lovely garden until it shut. Plenty to see I recommend using the map as although it's fairly small we couldn't find the pond at first.

We love The Courts Garden, the whole site is easy enough to walk around in an hour with plenty to catch the eye. Everything is so well maintained, a credit to the volunteers that look after the gardens. The little cafe serves amazing baguettes and rolls, etc.,
Definitely worth a visit.
