Wonderful scenery but at times a difficult walk. Many gradients (up & down) but a very worthwhile thing to do.

The Fossil Forest is easily reached following the coastal path East from Lulworth Cove - but check the Army are not using the nearby range first, or you won't be able to get to it! The forest is accessed via a series of steep steps, but you are rewarded with a great view across the coast as you descend. A noticeboard explains how they were formed. Along the coast are a series of rock exposures with plenty to look for, though you are still some distance (vertically) from the sea. The giant stromatolites are easy enough to find and are fun to photograph.

Wonderful walk, paths are much better than to Durdle door and so much quieter. It’s about a 4 mile round walk from Lulworth to Mupe cove. Some fantastic views. We didn’t go down to the Mupe beach due to they were concerned about some rocks falling. We stopped at the fossil forest on the way back to Lulworth Cove. It was very interesting to see. We thought it was a nicer walk than to Durdle Door. We then had ice cream when we got back to Lulworth cove.

I walked from Weymouth to lulworth cove and back.It took me ten hours and obviously had a couple of short breaks. The views I came across were simply stunning and took me by suppose some of the best I have seen in the world and I am well traveled I had no idea.I would of been in South America but for covid ,so I came across this jewel of a walk.Good footwear essential as there are some steep climbs towards duffle door and lulworth cove. The walk heads inlands at times because of landslides. At one point in Osmington the path takes you through a pub called the smugglers cove imagine!I could not recommend this walk highly enough.

when visiting durdle door, dont miss this bay. its not just bay with few ships or cliffs which creates small entry gate to this bay or interesting rocky ground. Sit down, have picnic, get knowledge about the history of this location and enjoy it.

Amazing views from the coastal walk across Lulworth bay and beyond. If you are around the area, do come and visit, because you can make it as long or short as you like. It is an amazing area of the coastline and you will not regret visiting.

What I don't understand is people rating this 1 star because of areas of the coastline being affected by rock falls. These are a natural process and so can not be helped. Even if Fossil Forest is closed, there is plenty more to do on the walk, plus this could be for conservation or army training; two perfectly valid things to shut this area temporary off for.

Do come and visit this amazing coastal walk. You will not regret it.

It was the last part of our journey travelling to the beaches and coves of the Jurassic coast. And what a grand finale it was. While the sun was going down we climbed to the top of the hill where we watched the fishing and sailing boats gently bobbing up and down in the cul de sac of the harbour.
A gentle breeze blew across the grass underfoot as we saw the surf exploding off a tricky rocky terrain below. It was a beautiful moment.
next visit will include the heritage centre and a stop off at the pub. Very nice indeed.

Such a nice place, with boats resting from the wildest close-by beaches and coves of the jurassic coast.
The Heritage Visitor Center is just a few steps away and there are plenty of paths to follow for great views from different angles and restaurants and bars to have some rest.

Taking a 14 year old on holiday presents challenges- not least of all how to drag him away from his screen but the superb views and sometimes difficult terrain did it
It may only have been a short break but a welcome change from Snapchat!
