Aomaq beach located in the south part of Socotra, close to the beach you can witness the colossal sand dunes of Hayf and Zahek villages which have been pushed up against the mountainside by the seasonal winds of Socotra.

лично мне мало запомнилось эта местность, океан волновался, был сильный ветер, достаточно грязно. не лучшее место на Сокотре, однозначно.

Южная часть острова Сокотра. Многокилометровый пляж. Тишина, неземная красота, белоснежный песок, теплое море и никого вокруг. Только крабы, чайки и цапли. Гиды из Сокотра Интернешнл обеспечили нам все условия для отличного отдыха.

Огромный пляж. Белый песок. Купаться хуже, чем на северном побережье острова, из-за волн. Ввиду практически полного отсутствия туристов кемпинги не работают, заброшены. Октябрь 2014.

Imagine white dunes of fine and non sticky sand and turqoise water, blue sky, the mountains on the other side... perfect scenery, I couldn't hope for better.

Aomak beach is the longest beach in Socotra and in my opinion the best one facing the Indian Ocean, given the fact that most of the others are located on the northern part of the island and face the Arabic Sea.
The sand is white and feels like powder, a real pleasure to take a walk on it. There are some huts near the village but other than that there are little to no infrastructures.
When I visited, at night there was a group of local tourist, but in the morning I was all alone and had the beach completely for myself, fantastic!
Since it's the ocean, there were some strong waves which added some fun, I wonder if there is potential for activities like surfing or kite-surf there.
Anyway this was my favourite beach in Socotra, along with Shoab, so don't miss it.

Unlike Socotra beaches of Qalansia/Detwah, Shouab, Delisha and Archer (please see my separate reviews) Aomak is situated on the Indian Ocean shore, in the southern coast of the island.
The landscape here is totally different from the one in the north or north-east of Socotra. The desert runs along the ocean coast. The nearby oasis of palm trees notably stands out of this otherwise deserted shore.
There is an organized camp site with electricity, basic shower and toilette facilities. And its keepers can assist with cooking, if needed. Make sure to charge your gadgets here as not all eco-lodges and campsites in Socotra offer this opportunity. The camp was not at all as crowded as Detwah near Qalansia, so we enjoyed overnight stay here greatly – there were more locals than tourists around.
Although the ocean creates a small harbour near the campsite, the current is nevertheless strong here. So be careful while swimming. And better apply sun protection even while swimming let alone staying outdoors on the beach – we saw too many people sun burnt.
The scenery in Aomak itself is somewhat boring. But it’s in a short drive away from the fabulous sand dunes of Zahek and/or Noged.
The seemingly endless horizontal (not vertical) white sand dunes near the village of Zahek, framed with the ocean on one side and mountain ridge on another, provided for amazing photo opportunities… I just loved wandering around it!
