几年前我参观了NP火山口湖，它是如此的美丽，我决定再去一次。然而，这次我就不那么幸运了——我一到公园的入口，就开始有雾了，当我到达游客中心时，雾已经大到我只能看到湖了。我只能在游客中心浏览，然后我决定离开。我会试着再去一次，但是下次我一定要提前看一下天气!

水比天空蓝更蓝。我会将这个和靠近大峡谷的地方一同游览。真是不可思议的景色。上下攀登了一段路程，更喜欢高处景色更好的地方。乘船旅行未营业。

这个景点一称火山口湖，与之配套的，是一个美国的国家公园，叫Crater Lake National Park，它位于美国的俄勒冈州，在山顶上。这个由火山口而形成的湖泊，其中的湖水的纯净度是非常高的，号称是整个北美之最哦！由于它位于高山之顶，因此常年有冰雪影响的，像我们6月份去的时候，有部分道路还处于冰雪覆盖的状态，没全部开放呢。可自驾车到景点，有标准的停车环境。

How difficult is the climb down and back to the lake? We are a group of 60s-70 year olds in reasonable shape.

Crater Lake rim is at about 1,880 meters. While there is a road that goes all around the lake, the winter snows cover it in about 10meters of snow. The North Entrance is closed currently and will not open until mid April.
Most people who go to Crater Lake in the winter go there for snow shoeing or snowmobiling.
There are tours available from Medford, Oregon, but I doubt that they will be as many during the winter as most people visit Crater Lake about July - September when the roads are fully open.
If you only have a limited time in Oregon, I would suggest visiting somewhere that is at a lower elevation or visit later on in the year.
Portland, Oregon has plenty to see if you haven't been there yet.

Considering a trip to Crater Lake early to mid June. According to the operating hours, it looks like only the North Entrance and West Rim Drive will be open. Is it still worth going? Can we see enough of the lake without driving the East Rim?

Yes. I personally find it the better view and offers a lot more.
Check for reservations at the lodge. Take the time to hike a little at some of the turnouts. Enjoy!

Planning on driving the Crater Lake rim on Thursday August 16th. Concerned about the views and scenery because of the wild fires and air quality alerts. Interested in hearing from those people who have recently visited and whether their views were impaired or whether they were disappointed. We are planning on being there by 10:30 a.m.

We were up there a month ago, so there were no fires at that time near Crater Lake.
I would look at the Crater Lake Webcams just prior to your trip and determine if it is worth it. You could also try calling the ranger stations out there and see what it might be like when you are up there.

The only major fireworks event would be at the Jackson County Expo located in Central Point, Oregon or Ashland, Oregon 4th of July or Ashland 4th of July both sponsored by their respective Chamber of Commerce .. check their websites for times and events

You can totally travel around Crater with a large vehicle like that; it will be slow going and the drivers behind you will want to tear their hair out because they will be trapped behind you on the single, no-passing roads around the lake but they are built to accommodate your type of transit. Double check that your camping area has space for such a large rig though; often camping areas are restrictive on the specific sites based on the gear you have.

I was there in September, and there was about 6" of snow on the ground, temps in the low 30's. The snow made it even more beautiful!!

We've always driven our own car. The roads are clearly marked, well paved and easy to navigate; this gives us the chance to stop and go as we see fit. Tours are arranged through private companies, not the NPS, so you would have to do the leg work on those.
