开车上山很好，因为在如此炎热的日子里，气温凉爽。我们选择立刻去登顶。小贴士：先去山顶，因为第二个停车场就在下来的路上，很容易找到。这些景点有很多有趣的地方。如果你想要离开观景区去探险的话，这里有一些小径。它很棒。在这里，望远镜是非常有用的。

早上看日出的最佳点之一，另一处是snake river。山路蜿蜒狭窄，限速较低需小心驾驶，早上去的时候2边不时出现的鹿把我吓个半死。快到山顶的时候有个地方停车，往右走一些才是最佳地点，山顶反而视线遮挡，记住！

这个点也是西线上的重要点位，长约6英里左右的狭窄山路，限速20迈，双向通车。有2个观景点，一个是Valley view，另一个不记得名字了。。。。
这里据说是是俯瞰连绵起伏的丘陵、蜿蜒崎岖的Snake River，可以远眺提顿山。
可以由于有很多树遮挡，我们几乎找不到太好的角度。
这个点更适合下午拍摄，上午的话，光线强的时候不太好拍。就像我们的照片一样。

上到signal mountain还挺不容易，一条窄窄的路，一圈一圈盘山路，竟然还有些压耳的感觉，说明山的高度不低呢。当然上到顶峰所见景色也必定不同，大提顿的几座雪山近在眼前，jackson lake和jenny lake也映衬着山的伟岸，值得盘上来！

How winding and steep is this drive? Is the road narrow? Do you drive close to the edge if you look out your windows you see steep drop Offs? Am a fearful passenger with height issues :(. Thank you.....

The road has a relatively moderate incline, not very steep at all. It's somewhat narrow but there is still plenty of room for two vehicles. There weren't any places that I would consider all that scary so no need to be concerned, and the views at the top are great.

How long should we plan for the drive to the summit? We are traveling with parents (mid 70's), so a lot of hiking is not planned. Thanks!

It’s about a 15 - 20 minute drive to the top part. The look outs are pretty close to the parking spots. Enjoy!!

I plan to drive to the top of Signal mountain and do some astro photography at night. Can anyone tell me if this road is closed at night? If the road is closed at night how safe is it to hike to the top? Your help is much appreciated.

How steep is the road up? I have an old RV that doesn't handle hills well but want to make it to the top for sunrise while I'm there in a few days

I have two questions and I appreciate the opportunity to ask the staff.
First...I noticed several small areas with logs and brush. It seemed like they were set up for little bonfires, and I wondered if they are used as signals in the winter, such as for a New Year's celebration. I know this is a weird question, but I saw so many of these little areas, over 15 for sure, that they really piqued my imagination.
Second, my husband wonders what the towers at the top of the summit are for. We did manage to get cell phone reception and wondered if these towers are cell phone towers or are used for other types of transmissions.
Thank you so much for upkeep of the mountain and for giving visitors such a wonderful experience.

These are called "slash piles" and are used for controlled fires as a form of fuel reduction. In areas where infrastructure is built, the trees are thinned out and wood piled. Once there is snow on the ground the piles will be burned. This strategy prevents a large, uncontrollable fire from breaking out.
