Options for all hiker levels- we took the extension to Bradley Lake and the vistas from that elevation are spectacular. Heading back on the loop I was jealous to see swimmers in the water- had I only known that was an option I would have been in! Parking lot filled up by 9. Our 7+ mile hike took about 3 1/2 hours. Be sure to carry water, bear spray, sun screen, hat and hiking poles if you do the extension. Bathrooms available at the parking lot.

What a wonderful fairly easy hike. Wasn't sure what the lake looked like but at the end you find out, simply beautiful! So peaceful and serene, went before lunch time so it wasn't too crowded.

This is an easy hike to a beautiful lake.
Along the way, we also ventured off to Bradley Lake, which was equally as beautiful
The hike is about 2 miles. It takes about an hour each way.
There was no strenuous climbs and very family friendly.

This hike did not disappoint! The views of the Tetons as you are hiking are stunning! Taggart Lake was calm the day we visited, and we took some great pictures! The Tetons were showing off as they reflected in the lake!! We were lucky and grabbed a parking space when another car left. Go early if you want to park in the parking lot!

Beautiful views, less crowded than Jenny Lake. Could be strenuous for some. Mostly easy. Great spots for picnics.

Great hike for family. Got to dip our feet in Taggart Lake, just sad we didn’t see a bear! Some elevation on the hike and a few options to extend the distance if you want.

Of course, we had to do this hike as our last name frequently gets misspelled Taggart. On the way to the lake, lots of flowing streams in the woods. On the way back to the parking lot, more meadows with amazing views of the mountains! The hike had it all! I highly recommend this hike!

Hiked this trail with my husband and 1.5 yr old in a backpack carrier. We also hiked Jenny, String and part of Leigh lakes and Taggart was by far our favorite.
The trail does have an elevation gain but is not difficult for anyone who enjoys hikes. You don’t have a view of the lake for the majority of the trail but still beautiful mountain scenery and a waterfall/rapids section toward the start. Once you arrive at the lake it is beyond stunning. We arrived around 11a and there were clouds covering the peaks, but stayed maybe 30 min and the clouds cleared and we were able to see the glass reflection on the water. If we didn’t have our toddler with us I would have loved to try this hike at sunrise. We did not do a loop but hiked back the same direction/shorter route to the trailhead.
Definitely plenty of other people on the trail but not so many that we weren’t able to enjoy a peaceful hike. We were told there were bears in the area but the only wildlife we saw were a fox (from a distance) and chipmunks haha.
There was a tiny bit of snow left at the end of May but nothing that impacted our hike.
Highly recommend this trail!!!

First visit to GTNP and this was our favorite trail. Nice waterfall at the beginning and follows the river for much of the trail. Taggart Lake with the mountain backdrop is gorgeous. Saw river otters playing on the shore. Highly recommend. Allow a couple hours minimum.

This trail was pretty well laid out. My wife and I used hiking poles, and glad we did. There are some elevation changes up and down along the way. IT was a relatively easy hike, but it is a hike, not a walk or stroll. Also, there are plenty of places that you can trip on jutting river stones or roots, so be careful.
The lake was so beautiful and worth the hike. We brought some snacks and pic nicked on one of the giant boulders on the lake itself. We went left along the lake towards the footbridge not not further. It was very peaceful and the chipmunks can and will come up to you.

hi, planning our trip to Grand Teton in AUgust with 2 children ages 6 and 9.
is this a populated trail- as we have to be prepared for bear encounters, g=d forbid.
also, is this trail you wrote about Taggart Lake or Mirror Lake?

The trial was busy while we were there. A family that we meet saw a bear on this trail the day before. But the bear was about 50 yards away and left when it heard people. The Rangers recommended putting a bell of some kind on kids backpacks to ward off animal life. And to co firm yes this review is about Taggert lake. Hope that helps. Enjoy your trip!
