Easy hike for a great view

I wanted a quiet birthday hike off foothills parkway. As someone who’s done some of the harder trails in the park, Ramsey cascades, five trails to leconte, shuckstack, and sterling, it was such a breath of fresh air for something ridiculously easy! This is enjoyable for anyone even if you are not in good hiking shape. I brought my heavyset friend and he needed minimal water breaks, but most of us were unbothered. The graffiti at the top really makes me sad, but this is not like a Gatlinburg hike, you will not see many people/if any at all. Please bring wet weather gear and cold weather gear because the weather can change in an instant. Beautiful views of the surrounding mountain ranges and unique insight into the air quality controls studied by the NPS.

Look Rock Tower

A pretty steep but short little walk. Very quiet and peaceful, no one else around. View from the top was amazing!!!

Foot Hills Speedway... Not Parkway.

There seems to be no law enforcement on the Foothills Parkway and the noise from the Harleys and crotch rockets was off the chart! It was the Foothills Speedway. SMH From 8:00 am till well after 9:00 PM it was a racetrack.
The campgrounds are wonderful, the views outstanding if you are OK with the speedway sounds. I go to the mountains to escape this clutter but inconsiderate loud pipes/motorcycles prevent this park from being a true "getaway".
I will never again camp here and certainly never recommend staying here until the park service gets this BS under control.

Had a great little hike uphill to the lookout tower.

Nice short hike with good views. We did this hike yesterday. It’s all uphill to the lookout tower and well worth the trek ip. It’s less than a mile to the top and has great views. The tower itself is also cool. Definitely recommend if you’re driving the Foothills Parkway and want to stretch your legs.

Nice view

This is a short hike. You park across the street and walk up the paved path from there. It is a little incline so if not in shape, the thighs may burn a little. Definitely worth the view. The tower is currently closed but you can still see a very nice view from the platform.

Great views and very accessible

Skip the crowds at Clingmans Dove and come here instead. I missed it going south and found it coming back north. There's a sign of the road which explains the trail and says to leave 45 minute for the hike and viewing. The trail is paved and easy. You'll see a lot of squirrels and trees. Very nice views and only a few people were here. No problem with finding parking across the street.

Beautiful Views

The only reason this does not get five stars is because of the trash left there. If not for that five stars for sure. It is beautiful and not crowded at all. Look rock is on the foothills parkway which is a huge difference headed the other way to clingmans dome where traffic is a nightmare. This is so peaceful with beautiful views. It is an easy uphill trek to the top. The tower itself is closed though, but still awesome on the platform. Dont miss this one.

Mom and daughter getaway

This is a must see! The hike is short but uphill I’m not in the best of shape, so I had to stop but I made it. Once there, the views were amazing. I had more fun exploring all of the rock formations. Go past the tower path and these boulders come up from everywhere. I called it natures lego land. Bring a picnic and your Eno or tree hammock. Our mistake because we didn’t know. Playing around all the boulders was a lot off fun. Then a pleasant walk back down.

Don't Pass This By

This is a great activity to spend a couple hours for a short hike with a really nice view at the tower. Don't miss the rocks just beyond the tower where there are hidden paths with fun rock climbing. Both adults and children spent a good hour at the rocks. Lots of nice pull offs on the way with really nice views. You will not have to fight the crowds here like you do at other places in the park.
