Credo che se visiti Vicopisano non dovresti fartela sfuggire. In stile romanico-pisano (Vico aveva un legame strettissimo con la vicina Pisa), vi abbiamo asssitito alla messa domenicale del mattino dopo la salita alla Rocca.

Io adoro le pievi sono chiese antiche in cui si respira semplicità e devozione si sente il peso del tempo trascorso ma in modo lieve lontane dalla ricca opulenza delle chiese "tradizionali"cristiane

The Pisa area is rich in Romanesque-style "pievi" (parish churches), dating back to the Republic's heyday, and which repeat (on a smaller scale) the admirable, pure forms of that city's distinguished cathedral.
The evident wealth of the territory in those times (a reflection of the wealth of the capital city) meant that these churches were built without savings, in high quality cut stone, and therefore didn't need restorations in the following centuries, which would have entailed the risk of distorting the original style. So the Romanesque style has been well preserved, both inside and outside, making these churches little jewels.
The parish church of Vico Pisano fully falls into this type, very pleasant to see.
To the value of the architecture is added that of the masterpieces it houses. Not the only one, but the wooden sculpture today occupying the apse wall, the "Deposition from the cross", from the beginning of the 13th century, is undoubtedly outstanding, as it has been well preserved to this day.

Già segnalata come edificio religioso in documenti del 934, questa pieve, ormai unica testimonianza delle tante presenti nel borgo, fu eretta, in stile medievale, nel XII secolo con pietra locale, il verrucano. Al suo interno numerose sono le opere d’arte da ammirare tra cui un tabernacolo quattrocentesco in pietra, affreschi che illustrano l’Annunciazione, la Visitazione, la Natività ed Erode che ordina la strage degli innocenti ed uno splendido capolavoro ligneo dato dalla Deposizione della Croce risalente ai primi decenni del ‘200. info 050 799155.

Nel giugno scorso, abbiamo assistito, insieme ad alcuni amici, ad una celebrazione liturgica in questa Chiesa, molto bella, romanica-pisana del XII secolo, dove si possono apprezzare alcune pitture e statue lignee ma la cosa più importante è la Deposizione della Croce lignea del secolo XIII; una deposizione lignea simile a questa si può ammirare a Volterra in provincia di Pisa.

Edificio del XII sec. che costituisce un esempio di Chiesa romanico-pisana caratterizzato da una facciata molto ben conservata e realizzata in pietra.

Bellissima pieve iniziata nell'XI secolo e costruita perlopiù nella prima metà del XII secolo. Bello l'esterno e l'interno. La deposizione dalla croce in legno vale una gita

Vicopisano ist nicht nur wegen der Rocca einen Besuch wert, sondern auch wegen dieser schönen Kirche. Reine Romanik, schöne, schlanke Säulen und eine Holzbalken-Deckenkonstruktion. Ein sehr spiritueller Raum.

Zeker een bezoek waard, wegens het mooi altaatstuk in hout gesculpteerd. Zeer oud kerkje, mooi in al zijn eenvoud.

Nella zona bassa della cittadina , dominata dalla Rocca del Brunelleschi, ci si trova di fronte alla facciata molto bella di questa chiesa romanica ; forma simmetrica con delicate lavorazioni poco evidenti e pietre lisce con colori sfumati ; interno a tre navate con colonne a sezione tonda e quadrata e muri in perfetto stato di conservazione ; molto bello ed antico il gruppo ligneo dietro l'altare.
