My sister and I were supposed to go diving but the weather was terrible. So we did a quick search and found that they offer this in the City Tourism office. Our hotel (Tavern) set it up very easily. In an hour from inquiry, we got ourselves a tour guide and a booked tour including habal habal going to the caves. It’s not easy caving though. You get to explore 2 caves for 200 pesos per person (very cheap!). That comes with a couple of cave guides + flashlight + helmet. Bring a decent pair of trekking boots. In our case, we used dive booties with rubber soles, and they did the job. And bring a small bottle of water for hydration. Anyway, the beginner cave, which everyone needs to go to, has a really great landscape inside. You have to trek to go to it though. Pretty easy: 100+ steps, some inclined. But going inside the cave can be tricky. It’s very rocky and can be slippery. But past that, the inside is much easier with the terrain mostly leveled. The guides have loads of stories so it’s a great idea to listen and ask questions. The sights I enjoyed the most was seeing roots from a tree from above the cave extending inside, and the massive stalactites. The second cave we entered had a quicker but somewhat more challenging trek from the first one. Entering it was even harder. You had to make use of a rope to go all the way in. And use the rope to go out as well. It’s called a bat cave/dome so there’s plenty of bats flying around once you get to the dome part. Incredibly dark and damp, a great adventure nonetheless! Highly recommended for outdoorsy folks or just willing to try something different. The guides are pretty cool too :)

If you're looking for an adventure. Silop cave is a must! Caves 2 & 3 are recommended for 1st time cave explorers.

Our schedule for the day was quite full but we are so glad that we were able to explore 2 caves (caves 2 and 3) of the Bgy. Silop cave system. Each cave offered a different experience and both did not disappoint. Inside the caves, enjoy the rock formations.......outside the caves, enjoy the greenery. Beautiful! For me, it was one of the highlights of our short trip to Surigao del Norte. We really had fun!

Just follow the tour guides' instructions - bring water, wear the helmet and gloves that they will provide, wear the right shoes and you will be fine......the guides will make sure of this.

The experience will leave you craving for more spelunking. We really should come back!

Going to Silop caves was actually a spur-of-a-moment activity. We went to Brgy. Silop (a ten to twenty minute ride) riding a motorcycle (habal-habal type).

Going to each cave requires a long trek from the foot of the forest. The entire spelunking took half of our day and we only explored three out of 12(uncertain?) caves in the area. You need to bring water and other stuff before starting your trek. The tourist guide will provide you with a pair of gloves and a helmet (a standard procedure, they told us when we asked them).

The scenery is worth the long and tiring trek. That's the best thing about the trip. We learned a lot from our tour guide as he showed us the nooks of each cave. We even encountered different animals (aside from bats) living in the caves.

I'm very certain that I shall return to this place and explore the other caves (as you are only allowed three caves per fee) once I return to Surigao City.

Great attraction and definetly a must see when you are in Surigao ... Different caves with a difficult level of difficulty to explore them ... Only accesible with local guides ...

Number 2 was a very nice cave but not very difficult. Even for beginners a good choice. You should wear good shoes (it is partly slippery). You will pay for the guide and you have the chance to buy water from the guides too. I hope to go back to Surigao and we want to explore more of the Multi Caves there

We came from trip to Siargao & Bucas Grande. While waiting for our ferry trip back to cebu, we got a flyer in the hotel where we stayed for the night. To whilst away the time, I was surprised to see one destination which is just less than an hour to reach from the hotel. I've been to Underground River but the experience in Silop Cave is more enjoying considering that you can experience to savor the amazing & wondrous beauty of the stalactites and stalagmites. How you are tempted to touch the glittering crystal like minerals of the rock formations inside the cave. Its a more gratifying experience unlike going to Underground River where the pacing of the view is so fast, you have no headlight of your own only the bankero and you cannot have pictures inside the cave.
