Incredible plants and birds. Trip itself is only a 4 but the knowledge and professionalism of the guide made all of the difference. I learned so much about plants, birds, culture and history from Aza (767.616.4821) that I could not begin to capture on my own. I had no idea there were so many different fruits and nuts grown anywhere in the world and we also saw parrots. I highly recommend the tour, and especially Aza. Even though the tour is short, you will learn and experience so much more.

This is a lovely way to spend a couple of hours. We went with a guide called Azah. He was knowledgeable about the environment and we saw lots of different birds, fish and crabs, all of which he easily identified. He gave an on-going commentary about the plants and environment on the banks. We were privileged to see an iguana warming up in the morning sun - a special moment. The river was busy with other tourists, but since the boats have to be rowed by hand there was no noise or disruption. The bush bar which marks the end of the navigable stretch is fun and you are welcome to walk in their beautiful garden.

The vessel tour on a river was very nice experience, kind of a over priced for such a short trip (120 EC for 2 persons + day pass 25EC).

Eine Tour über die Insel brachte uns auch hierher.
Zu sechst stiegen wir in ein Ruderboot und wurden, in ca 30 min, von unserem Guide durch diesen Mangrovenwald gerudert. Herrliche Stille, große Krebse am Ufer, ab und zu ein Vogel.
An der "Dschungel-Bar" wurde angelegt und wir hatten gut 30 Minuten Pause.
Hier kann man etwas trinken, oder tolle Fotos von schönen Pflanzen und Blüten machen.
Danach geht es wieder zurück - in einem Seitenarm konnte noch eine Hütte aus den "Pirates of the Caribbean" - Filmen, vom Wasser aus, besichtigt werden.

The Indian river itself is short. The tour would take you a maximum of an hour and a half. You need to buy a sightseeing pass (around 5 USD) at the gas station next to the river, and the tour itself was around 20 USD per person. We had 4 in the boat.
There is an ATM and a bank right next to this gas station as well so you can withdraw or exchange your money for local EC dollars.
Our tour guide was Aza! Very friendly and entertaining. We also went to Syndicate Falls and Nature Trail. Highly recommend. Ask around for Paul "The Nature Boy". He will give you a great and informative tour. We were docked in Portsmouth.

L’endroit est paisible et le guide était très sympathique. La nature a bien repris ses droits depuis le cyclone. Penser à prend un chapeau car le soleil tape!
Pour moi pas obligatoire de faire cette balade car en plus du pass touristique à 12$, il faut payer 25$ par personne pour une balade d’une heure et demi aller retour.

Très chère,trop chère pour la prestation offerte, promenade trop courte sur une rivière banale. Nous avons l habitude de voyager et cela n est pas un must de l ile.

Hi we just turned up. If you park on the other side of the road in the bank car park, the guides come across and ask you if you want a trip. Plenty of them. They also have their own car park I think. They will find you anyway!

The tour is not a set time, our guide was called James Bond!! he had all the time in the world for us and like other Dominicans we had the pleasure of meeting he was more than happy to just chill and take time showing us all the beautiful things that there where there from Plants, birdlife and other interesting sights

wenn man auf eigene Faust zum Indian River möchte:
Bekommt man ohne Probleme am Hafen ein Taxi? Sind immer Boote verfügbar oder ist es schwierig, wenn ein Kreuzfahrtschiff im Hafen liegt?
Was kostet das Ganze dann für 2 Erwachsene und 2 Kinder?

Actually I know there are multiple people with boats and ours was arranged by the people who owned the airbnb we stayed at (Hideaways of Tibay Heights).
