A Must See in Kingston
2020年2月
The highlight of our day was visiting 41 Fleet Street. Beautiful, inspirational, murals span several blocks, and a yard. This community artist project is uplifting, and shows a sense of pride, and progress for this neighborhood. I see this as must see destination in Kingston. It felt safe and welcoming.

Really cool experience. Nice just to drive down, and look at all the structures, then grab lunch down on the waterfront. you don’t need a tour guide

Top thing to see in Kingston

Beautiful, meaningful street art on a street that used to be struggling with crime and violence but now is changed and full of new initiatives. Get there by taxi, the area is not the safest. Make sure to visit Lifeyard - a Rastafarian-run restaurent on Fleet Street right next to the street art. They have a big, green garden that is currently being turned into a hostel, where you can chill and enjoy fresh juices and I-Tal food 😋

Creativity all over the walls

I second all the other reviews. This was a great stop and a place I never would have visited without the reviews. I will say, please go with caution. I don’t know if it was because we were black, we were approached and asked who
we were with and why we were there. Our guide- really a friend of a family member that lives in Jamaica in the area told them we were with him and things were cool after that. The art work is great but was outshined by the kids playing in the court yard- too cute and so appreciative when my husband gave each some money.

LIFEYARD - ART PROJECT
2018年3月 • 好友
Amazing Art project, with a meaning. Bring the positive Vibes into the streets of downtown. Create a stunning zone for kids to play, to spent there afternoons. To teach them. It is not just about the street art, it is about the whole project, with yard, music, art, computer lessons for kids, ital food... If you are in Kingston, come and support this project! You will love it. Big shout out to Sabukie.

My spliff smoking tour guide led us through the vast array of street murals while explaining the Rastafari culture. We'll worth a visit for any kind hearted human being.

Painted murals next to a primary school in Kingston
2016年11月 • 夫妻情侣
Local residents are selling food from small store fronts or even from the homes next to the art on this street. We are impressed, and want to support the non-profit foundation that is supporting this. It is next to a primary school where a foundation is supporting it. Since the neighborhood is typical of the downtown, we did not feel threatened or unsafe, but since as a tourist you want to avoid being a target of theft, I suggest that one not display jewelry or forget to take normal precautions with cameras and valuables. We are often greeted pleasantly by strangers in Kingston, so we feel welcomed and have been treated with courtesy everywhere. I took numerous digital photographs, but TripAdvisor format makes it very difficult to post them here, unless they are edited and converted to .JPG format, so I will leave that to others. Search the internet to see more but TripAdvisor policy prohibits posting URL links here.

Kleurrijke Street art in grauwe buurt

An Urban Oasis

Downtown Kingston is not my normal weekend getaway but it was a holiday weekend and I decided to stay in the city and take a tour of Downtown. First on the list was to find 41 Fleet Street after seeing feature on the project. My Dad decided to tag along with my daughter and I..and what a great treat. My dad took us down memory lane...his childhood days in Franklyn Town...his days at Kingston College...when the tram ran from Elleston Road to Constant Spring. Pass the Prison on Tower Street and evidence of the colonial past. Through narrow roads with drain covers missing we found 41 Fleet Street. This is not the cookie cut sun sand sea Jamaica. This is a rough neighbourhood in a depressed community but what a transformation. A neglected factory space turned into an urban art show case. Brightly coloured murals. The murals extend outside 41 Fleet Street to wall's of the nearby primary school and wall's. Positive message..Positive vibes. This was just one stop on our Urban tour of downtown Kingston...a historic and social adventure. We stopped at Victoria Pier to look at Edna Manley's "Negril Aroused" and drove to show my daughter the railway station..Jamaica had the first railway system in the Americas..Yup it was a real historic and social adventure. Note: We went on holiday weekend..Downtown Kingston is different during the work week.
