First off, unless you do some research, this is not an easy beach to see. Locals know how to access it from the road and aren't exactly glad to see tourists there. We had Captain Tony from Sunshine Tours take us in a private boat for a reasonable sum. I would recommend this tour provider. It's a cool boat trip out and he lets you stay for an hour, or so.
The actual James Bond filming location waterfall is to the left ... they built a ministerial house there and guards armed with attack dogs keep tourists away. There is a smaller falls with a natural whirlpool next to it, which tourists are allowed to frolic in. The water from the small falls is cold and mixes with the warm sea water below. If you dare to, hop in the chilly natural whirlpool created by roots and stone, just be careful as it can get slippery.
The beach itself is beautiful ... one of the top beaches we visited with golden sand and emerald green water. You can walk along the cliffs ... just don't leave a towel and shoes/clothes, etc. on the beach because they will likely not be there when you return. The locals can give you some icy stares for being there ... but for the most part leave you be. Although, a group of 3 scary looking dudes tried to call us over and Captain Tony basically told us that was a good time to leave.
As a James Bond fan, this was a must see for me and it was well worth the money we paid to trek there. You'll want a local guide. We returned and watched Dr. No and anytime I hear the song Underneath the Mango Tree, I'll think of my trip to Laughing Waters. My family and I (6 adults) got a private Boat (Captain Dve) to take us around the harbour in Ocho Rios. We were unaware of where we would be going. We visited Dunn's River beach but never came off the boat. Captain Dave sailed past several attractions and explained some of the history with regards to building ,a sunken ship and some tourist attractions, and then the boat captain took us to Laughing Waters ...it was picturesque, we got a guy to take the ladies to shore on a kayak, the men swam to shore (this was so much fun). It was fascinating to experience the cooler waters of the river after wading in from the warm waters of the sea. There is a falls, and there were spots to sit while the falls "fall all over you". The property of Laughing waters is private but there is an identical falls nerby where for a small fee you can have a god time. Coincidentally we had a wedding to attend which was held on the grounds of Laughing Waters, the lawn is for miles and well manicure, several gorgeous flowers and tall palm tress adorn the property, there a rooms you can rent and the bathrooms are spectacular The sound of the falls with the water rushing by is so calming. Lovely Place.

Such a beautiful hidden gem! When our yacht pulled up to the falls, it felt magical. We were able to hop on a smaller boat to bring us in because the water was super shallow. There were lots of locals there and we were definitely the odd ones out. Once we were made clear on NOT accessing or going over to the waterfalls on the left, things were smooth sailing. Whatever you do, don’t go over there because you will be told by the guards to step away (owned by the prime minister or something I think?). The right side is open to the public and we had a great time. I would highly recommend this off the beaten path gem.

Laughing Waters was a very tranquil experience. We went there on a Staff Fun Day. The grounds were well kept, with manicured lawns and lush gardens. The beach was beautiful with warm calming waters. The river and waterfalls was a dream with cold gushing waters in calming pools.

Also known as Crab Key beach. Awesome and amazingly beautiful spot to visit and Is where Dr No was filmed with Sean Connery where Ursula comes out of the ocean with her shells, singing "Underneath the mango tree" Yesss. Hard to find, my local driver knew where to pull up on the main road and then we walked through the bush. There were no signs or paths so be careful. I then had a steep climb down to the beach where a Troll was hiding at the bottom where he was trying to tell me that the amazing path I just climbed down and nearly died he had cut with his own hands to that the elderly could walk down? and that for this time and effort and making the beach accessible I should give him some money. I sent him packing. Well worth the trip though and when I got on the beach it was one of the best I had ever seen and there were aa few locals locals enjoying the beach and keeping to themselves.

We attended a wedding ceremony on Saturday 1st June at this stunning location. The grounds are lush, and you cannot go wrong with the sight of slowly lapping waves onto the beach, with the sound of the waterfall that gives the venue it's name. The only 2 things of concern as wedding venue are lack of toilets and no wifi 'in 2019!!

Laughing Waters Villa is owned by the government of Jamaica but is available to use through the UDC. I imagine the beauty of the waterfalls has not changed from the first visit of Christopher Columbus when he called Jamaica the most beautiful island in the Caribbean! The roaring river meets the golden sands and pushes into the warm sea. Well worth a trip if you get the opportunity! The neighbouring beach often hosts cruise ship bathers from Ocho Rios.

I'm not sure if this place is generally open to the public, but this was booked off for our group for a wedding and a beach party.
The spot is really beautiful, with waterfalls and the beach, so you get to enjoy both! It's secluded and a beautiful spot!
