Herencia Neogótica del siglo XIX

Es el más bello inmueble religioso que visité en Puerto España.
Sus fachada neo gótica luce un par de torres campanario y rosetón central, el interior espacioso en tres naves con hermosas lámparas.
En algunas paredes hay lapidas de personajes esculpidas en mármol.
Un sitio del credo católico apto para la reflexión de los adeptos y para la admiración de su arquitectura.

Disfruta de la basílica menor de la Inmaculada Concepción porque: La VIDA ...es un VIAJE!

What a beautiful structure located at the end of Independence Square. The church was open so we just walked in and engrossed ourselves into the religious history of Trinidad.

The main RC church in Trinidad & Tobago

As a Roman Catholic, this is regarded as the main cathedral in our country. Recently major restoration work was completed. but in an earthquake in August some damage was done to one of the towers. It is about 150 years old.

A restful place

The exterior is not that attractive, but the interior has a stylish simplicity to it. Clean lines, beautiful stained glass windows, and light colors make for a restful surrounding. Apart from a few helpful fans, there is no noise to disturb your meditation.

Massive Church dominating square

Independence square is an interesting place, but towering over the start is the Huge Basilica of the Immaculate conception. A refuge from the hustle and bustle and beautiful building. Did not feel it was respectful to take pictures while people were worshiping

Beautiful, but sketchy area

So the downtown area of Trinidad is sketchy, so while you can walk from your hotel on the harbor, you may wish to take a car. But once here, it was nice to see the architecture and style. Very nice people and beautiful to see and behold.
