This was good to see , sadly the museum is closed on a Saturday !! Easy to walk around, some of the buildings were closed . Stunning views and ideal for photos. Can walk back down to the town from here.

Visiting Fort King George was a great experience with the beautiful scenery, lovely old buildings and cool cannons. I was able to take some gorgeous panoramic photographs from the fort overlooking the ocean, some great shots of the Powder Magazine, the cannons and the arches of the main building.
The kids thought it was cool that bats were literally hanging out in a couple of the buildings, but it was unfortunate that due to Covid restrictions, the museum was closed.
All in all, it was a cool experience for the kids and there wasn’t too much walking, but enough to get some exercise.

Visited while the weather was not great to be at the beach. The views were great and walking around the grounds filled in 45 minutes. There are a couple of museums you can pay to enter (TTD $20 adult) however we chose not to go in as we had a 3 year old with us. Worth a visit on a rainy day but nothing special

Fort King George was the first stop we made when visiting Tobago and it didn’t disappoint!
The fort still has many of the original canons and structures from when it was originally built, most of which are free to explore. There are some other buildings and areas which require payment to see and explore.
If you’re visiting Tobago, we’d recommend stopping here!

It is a good nature spot but also the museum has good artefacts. Amerindian artefacts, implements from Africa, even skeletons and an embalmed bird!

There are not many historic or cultural sites to visit in Tobago, but Fort George should not be missed if you are in Scarborough. Wonderful views across the harbour show why Fort George was such a stronghold for the various colonial regimes that "owned" Tobago over the centuries.
There is also a small museum that sets the fort and local culture in context.

Historic sites don't play a major part in walking & hiking around Tobago, but this magnificently restored fort 400 feet above the capital city of Scarborough has beautifully kept walking paths and excellent panoramic views.
Built in 1777, Fort King George consists of a lighthouse, powder magazine and officer's mess. One building has been converted into an art gallery.
After a prolonged battle, the French took the fort a few years later and renamed it Fort Castries. The French occupied it from 1781-1793.
Recaptured by the British, the fort changed hands several more times, so it's amazing anything at all is left. It finally was abandoned in 1854.
Locals will tell you that Tobago changed hands politically 31 times in 200 years, making their island one of the most traded/fought for landfalls in the Caribbean. Tobagoans are kind of proud for having been so highly prized.
If you like history this is the place to visit, give yourself plenty of time to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the experience. Great photo oportunities.

We went twice during our stay in Tobago, and unfortunately, the museums weren't open then. Monday - Friday only. However, there waws still plenty to see--views, vendors, and a wedding! One of many fort locations around Tobago. Each has their own unique history, and the views are always magnificent. Tobago has such a unique and varied history, and I'm extremely lucky to have been able to visit!
