It's cool to be out on the isolated west side of the island. I saw no one, aside from the nearby inclusive zen resort. Best snorkeling journey would be to start from the left, go past the reef balls into the close in small reef and then circle out to the bigger reef on the right to help you find your way.

Beautiful remote beach. We were able to drive there in a small rental car no problem, despite all the reviews. Yes the road is not great but totally doable. The beach is very nice but the snorkeling doesn’t offer much at all. We were expecting much based on prior reviews but didn’t see almost anything despite swimming out quite far.

Stunning beach with very few people and easy snorkeling ( 2 adults and 12 year old). The drive was not difficult at all, we had a Jeep Renegade and had no problems. I highly recommend spending the day and then eating at Da Conch Shack on the way home, a perfect day!

This beach is awesome, we love it so much. We usually go early in the morning and spend a few hours there. Hardly see anybody, when we do, it a small group.
Snorkeling is fun here, this year I saw all fish you would expect in this area, including a beautiful nurse shark.
The problem is access. I actually saw a small Suzuki going over the huge holes and ditches on the road (last kilometer give or take), but I wouldn't recommend. I had a Jeep Wrangler and it was a breeze. If you are not willing to risk your small car, you can park by the cellular site and walk, but under the sun, this is not such a fun option (have done that twice already).
If you have some shade, take it with you. As you can see on the many posted pictures, except for that little cover at the entrance, there will be no other area to protect yourself from the sun.
The reef balls are getting better, with more life coming to it, but the natural reefs to the right are also a great place to look for fish.

This was possibly my favourite spot on the entire island.
TLDR: Must see spot
The drive down is treacherous. I saw a number of small cars down in the car park right at the beach and personally I do not recommend driving any car down this road. It would be extremely easy to get stuck or do major damage to a rental car. You do not want your holiday ruined by having to deal with dealing with the financial fallout of a poor decision. Any rental car company will take every dollar from you if you damage a car on this trail.
I suggest only attempting this road with a skilled driver and all-wheel drive/4X4 and a vehicle that has a high clearance off the ground. If you only have a car, I suggest parking at a safe spot (before the red barrier/gate) and walking down to the beach. Once you pass the red barrier/gate, the road gets really rough, really fast.
Anyway at this point, let's assume you have made it down safely.
There are no washrooms, running water, beach attendants, vendors, lifeguards down here. Usually, this place is empty. Be warned that along the entire path off the main road, all the way to the water, there are many security cameras, including some rotating cameras that monitor the beach and the sea. This is a really isolated beach with spectacular views. There is a gazebo if you need some shade while out enjoying the view. There are some really nice reefs, both real and artificial that make for memorable diving. There are posted maps and visuals that help you get an idea of what you will find.
This spot was recommended to me by a fellow tourist, and I am glad i was able to make the trek down. I think everyone should make this journey.

You need a keep or something bigger than the little Lego cars you rent but it’s worth it. Super bumpy hilly ride to the beach. We found tons of conch shells

You have b@11s of steel if you attempt this in a sedan. I would never. We rented a jeep from DnB auto rental - only $80 for the day! I'd really recommend this approach. The road is treacherous - people are not exaggerating. It's VERY fun to do in a Jeep!!
Once you get there it is a beautiful, isolated beach. We were the only ones there when we arrived in the morning and by the time we left there were maybe 4 other groups.
The artificial reef is cool to see, but don't expect to see too many cool sights. We just saw a few fish. Don't go just for the snorkeling let's say that
Also heads up - no facilities so bring your own TP, water and snacks!

What can I say; it was a treacherous ride on the road leading to the beach; saw someone's bumper on the side of the road. The road or what of it is almost impassable- large gullies, rocks, etc. Drove it with a rental Honda CRV and just barely made it. I wouldn't recommend the drive with anything less than a 4x4 or Jeep. Once we arrived, we knew we made the right decision. Beautiful water and no one else in sight. Had the whole beach to ourselves for the entire day. Paradise!

Fantastic semi-secluded beach (we saw only another 10 people, not counting the resort people). After parking, there is a good beach to the left (south) towards the Amanyara resort. You can snorkel the artificial reef but there's not that much to see. We found out - after we visited - that there is a better reef if you go right from the entry steps. Otherwise, you could swim all the way out to the dive boats and mostly see sandy bottom and old reef, with just a few new corals and fishes. The last mile or so of the drive is rough road, but take it slow and you'll be fine, even without 4x4, although I'd be hesitant to go if it looks like rain.

It’s about a 30 minute drive from Grace Bay. I would definitely not drive down the last section though although it might be OK in the Jeep. Snorkeling is not great and lots of submerged rocks on the beach. Good luck!

Hi there. Do you feel that the area is safe? And by safe I mean from humans not animals and such. What time of day were you there? Was it windy? Will be visiting with my GF and while I am snorkeling she will be on the beach. TIA

So I’ve never at anytime felt unsafe; I’ve been to this beach many times. I’m from a big city so I’m kinda callused to feeling unsafe, especially on a beautiful beach. I’ve been there when we were the only people around for hours....... please understand the amanyara is close by, to the left and I’m sure they don’t play around with security. If you do feel uncomfortable, walk to the left until you see the resort and hang around there.
Do not miss this beach! I always say it reminds me of some great beaches in Sicily without flying 9 hours.
The drive sucks and my first time going down the last hill was a bit uncomfortable especially in an economy car. Also, we have been there as early as 8 am but I’ve never been there after sunset.
