Truly a hidden gem in Nassau. Make sure to have your walking shoes on, a bottle of water, and your camera. Just an incredible site to see...and to climb. I would highly recommend this site of the beaten path. Take your time going up or walking down. Lots of people here, totally safe, nice escape from the sun.

We had a long walk here without sidewalks in a few places. The Queens Staircase is 66 stairs and right around the corner from Fort Fincastle. There were a lot of people. It offers a nice shaded area. The stairs are free.

Great place to check out. Walk save the cab fairs. Plan to soak it in and it’ll be maybe a 20-30 minute excursion to check out and it’s free.

66 steps, though erosion and repavement have brought it down to around 64 steps. Cool and relaxing to walk through the ravine in the shade.

The Queen's Staircase in Nassau, Bahamas, was an incredible experience. The view was awesome and absolutely breathtaking. The history behind it is truly fascinating and adds so much depth to the visit.
A helpful tip: start from the top and go down rather than climbing up, especially on hot days. It makes the visit much more enjoyable. Highly recommend this historic site for anyone visiting Nassau!

We would recommend the upper route. Here the ascent is gradual and the stairs are suddenly and overwhelmingly in front of you. It is really impressive what has been created here. And since there aren't that many sights in the area, a detour here should definitely be part of it.

Very cool to see in person. We started from the top, got a coconut for a drink and walked down the stairs. It was impressive to see the work these people have done. At the bottom it’s like a mini jungle and very neat to see.

A short walk from the port - you do not need a guide or a local to find this place.
There is no admission - and it is a small and nice oasis of green. If you have the time - wait around for the big groups of people to move on - then it also become a quiet oasis.

It was absolutely pouring rain when we went . No place to hide for soaked but still a nice place to see . A bit out of the way to get to. A good walk or taxi there. Nice view from the top well it was until the new US embassy got built right in the middle of the view

Agree with what others have said - you can just walk by the locals trying to scam money from you. Unless you feel like giving them a handout. This is free (primarily why I gave it the 5 stars) and it is a really beautiful sight.

How hard is it to get a taxi from a cruise ship? I’d like to see this but might not want to sign up for a cruise excursion just to see it.

It's a short walk from port. But plenty of taxis that are easy to find that will take you there.

There is a road and walk way that leads to the foliage and water area. You could drive up or use wheel chair to see foliage.There is no way up the stairs unless you find the road to drive in a car up behind it.

I would agree with the previous answers. We walked it, probably about a mile. If you can walk the mile then I'd say its worth it because you get to see some of Nassau along the way!

We came at it from the fort and started at the top. Honestly tho, can't remember is we needed to go up steps to get to the fort or not. Might be able to google earth and find out.

Yes, but it may not be pain-free to walk UP the stairs if you have bad knees or hips or a bad back.

It is slightly less than 2 miles(1.98) and about a 10 minute car ride(depending on traffic of course). If you have a map you "could" walk it in probably 20 or 30 minutes.

There is parking at the top of the stairs. However, our guide gave us a tour of at the bottom and then left us to walk up on our own and picked us up at the top near the fort.

There’s no fee. We went on a tour with a tour. Devine Servants. Perry McPhee gave us a great tour. A friend had used his service on an earlier trip. It was 25 dollars and we went to the conch shell restaurant, tasted conch fritters, rum cake factory, t-shirt store (not like the tourist shops), tea factory, and he stopped and let a friend purchase those huge conch shells 4 each.
It’s not a walking place but Mr. McPhee let us walk down the staircase and then he picked us at the bottom! Thank goodness we didn’t have to walk back up! Try to get him to give you the tour. My friend emailed him and set up a time to meet at the dock.
