This is a gem of a museum. The building and grounds are lovely, with sculptures and wall art in the gardens. Inside, the museum features local artists and works that are well worth the low admission price. Good for a couple of hours out of the sun.

Beautiful art museum with a garden to enjoy as well. Admission fee was low and the personnel were friendly.

Well worth the visit, both for the exhibits - which always feature Bahamian artists - and the historic building the museum is in. After the museum, be sure to visit the landscaped garden to admire the local flowers and fauna.

Nice art museum featuring only Bahamian artists. Well curated exhibit of artists concepts of mercy at the time of our visit. There's a small sculpture garden and an amphitheater, too.

I visited the Art Gallery when it first opened back in 2003 I believe. The architect is a friend of mine and I had a personal tour. Visited again in April 2022 again with my architect friend. I was rather disappointed to see that the gallery was allowed to run down a bit without any significant maintenance. That’s my only criticism, however. The exhibition was excellent and well presented and I highly recommend it to all visitors to this beautiful island.

I took the city bus to this museum from Baha Mar. The bus driver made sure to deposit me at the right spot in downtown Nassau so that I only had a short walk up a hill to the museum. It is located in a big colonial-era house and was showing a single exhibit of the art of Kendra Frorup, a well-known Bahamian multimedia artist who is an art professor at the University of Tampa. I loved this exhibit. The art was joyful, and somehow feminine and maternal, with bright colors and playful references to the island's food traditions. There were several interactive pieces that made use of music and sound, and one piece in particular that featured a child's laugh that filled me with joy. Outside the house, you will find several outdoor murals and a hilly botanical garden that takes 10 minutes to walk through. The walk back into town takes you past a chocolatier, a cigar factory, a banana daquiri stand, and the Graycliff Restaurant. I highly recommend this jewel of a museum.

If you love art and want to dive into the Bahamian culture, make this one of your stops. Lots to see, learn and even take home with you. Conveniently placed on top of the hill close to the downtown area. They also put on fun events and the space can be rented. I've also worked along with them for the Safety Stamp campaign and to shoot a video of a good friend of mine who is a poet, They support the arts and they support Bahamian.

The artwork in the National Art Gallery of the Bahamas is both beautiful and emotional. I especially loved the paintings of the children. The colorful murals that surround this beautiful building tell so many stories. A must stop on your trip to Nassau!

I've walked there each time I've been at port. It is uphill so it's a little strenuous but walking up the street is an adventure in itself. It is also within walking distance of Graycliff Chocolate Factory and Watling's Rum Distillery. Both fun attractions that you can visit without reservations or pre-planned tours.
