路孔古镇位于重庆荣昌县城城东，镇街距县城13公里，幅员面积24平方公里。古镇得名来源于一段民间传说，相传明朝有位叫曾傲的和尚，云游到此，见河对岸一带风景宜人，适于修身养性，决定在此建座寺庙。发觉坡边有六个石孔，似与河中相通，便往石孔倒入糠壳上试一试，不久糠壳果然从河中冒出，于是就把这里叫作“六孔河”，后来又喊做“路孔河”。路孔场、路孔乡、路孔镇也因此得名。路孔依山而建，层层叠叠，据文物专家测定古镇全长324米，街宽3.8米，街心2米--3米。与大城市相比虽然太小，但不泛一种恬静的美。由水路而至，青石路面缓缓而上，虽102级街梯，但仍不觉泛力。那246米长，3.5米高的斑驳的石质古城墙，据说筑造于清代嘉庆5年。那保存完好的石质狮子门、水巷子城门不能不令人赞叹古人石雕艺术的精湛。漫步于小街，在几人才能合抱的百年榕树掩映下，那大青砖、小青瓦、硬山墙、穿斗壁、长板门、吊脚廊、镶板窗、格子窗、抬梁柱、挑檐廊、石板街、禹王殿等让你饱览古老建筑悠久的历史。路孔镇内还有各具特色的石质古桥7座，这些古桥，一般都修建于乾隆、嘉庆年前后，有些甚至始建于明代，又经清代多年补修，年代十分久远。特别是濑溪河段两岸陡峭的石壁上还有四五十座东汉岩墓，有些还形成了岩墓群。古拙简朴的祠堂，古朴雅致的古寺古桥，岩间盘根错节的古树，人行马踏后形成的古道石阶深槽……丰富的文化遗产、流传久远的民间传说、淳朴的民风民俗，无不显示古镇昔日的辉煌和丰富的文化遗产。了解路孔古镇的方方面面，掌据路孔古镇最真实的第一手资料，就在TripAdvisor。

A very interesting and laid-back place that is very very local.
We were there when cctv was filming a tv show using lukong town as the background which hopefully wont turn this town into another commercialize old town.
Strongly recommend to take a river cruise (lower portion) not the upper portion where you can stop along an ancient big cave (zhao yang cave) with 7 smaller caves below and 5 smaller caves on top. Mind you, there is no proper stairs leading to the upper caves you have to go through tunnel and is very dark but worth the view when you are up on the upper caves.
Highly recommended if you are in chongqing.

Hi we would like to visit Lukong from Zigong in Sichuan and then keep going to Chongqing from there.
Does anyone know if there are buses we can catch and how long it should take us? I assume we would have to go into Rongchang and then get a taxi from there?
If no buses would it be possible to get a taxi from Zigong to Lukong by Taxi? And if so much it would cost.
We are traveling in Sept.
