Приехали с семьёй, все было закрыто, во Франции праздник. Хозяйка вышла, открыла, продегустировали. Дружелюбие, открытость, несмотря на нулевое знание французского, смогли разобраться. Несколько бутылок купили с собой. Рекомендую.

Our wine tasting and delicatessen with Claire was the highlight of our 3 day trip to the Beaujolais wine region! She was so lovely and passionate about her family’s organic wine growing. She took us next door to the BnB into their cellar and we tasted about 5 different reds and one delicious Chardonnay. She told us how her family have worked this vineyard since 1464 and they have been organic for the last 20 years. It was just all so interesting and down to earth.
Outside of this 1 hour wine tasting, she was just in a general, a great host always giving us anything we needed (especially since our group was travelling with a toddler) and a simple delicious breakfast was ready each morning at 8am when we went downstairs. They also gave us wood to light the fire on our last night - which was very nice!
The BnB is really a farm house with a dining/living area downstairs (complete with couches and fireplace and an industrial type kitchen used by the owners) and clean comfortable rooms upstairs with private bathrooms. Claire greeted us the day we arrived (again, easily organised via email) and she was so lovely and friendly from the very beginning. She had plenty of brochures in English for us and flagged the pages of wineries we should visit in the nearby Beaujolais wine region.
Their family lives on the property so it honestly felt like a 2 day French exchange - a very authentic, special experience! I highly recommend a visit to Domaine Chasselay!!!

Here in Boston we can get a little superior about our slice of American history—Plymouth, Paul Revere, Salem witches, all that. We figure that, with almost 400 years under our belts, we’ve earned it. But try selling “history” to the Chasselay family in the tiny Pierres Dorées village of Chatillon d’Azergue, France and the response is a wry smile. Because this charming family, on an idyllic farm in a postcard corner of Beaujolais, has been making wine here since 1464—a generation before America was (or more accurately, wasn’t) a glimmer in the eye of Christopher Columbus. And doing so in a region where grapes have been grown and fermented by someone for over 2000 years.
My wife and I arrived at Domaine Chasselay on a rainy night in November after a long and arduous day’s drive. I suspect we interrupted the Chasselays’ dinner, but that did not keep the gracious and energetic Claire from running out of her house to greet us and escort us to our room, a few steps away in a lovely remodeled and updated barn building; in fact, because we visited in the off-season, we had the entire house to ourselves. The impeccably clean and large room, which was simply furnished and featured modern bath and toilet rooms, a writing desk, and a pretty view of the vineyard out the traditional shutter windows, was warm and comfortable. Claire thoughtfully prepared a charcuterie plate (including homemade ham and paté) and a refreshing bottle of their 2016 (“12 days of maceration in tank and 9 months ‘like a baby’ in oak barrels,” per Claire’s note.)
The next day, after a delightful breakfast and chat with Christiane, Claire and brother Fabien’s lovely mother, Christiane, we were treated to a tour of the small operation and a tasting of several of the domaine’s wines, including an astonishingly good Beaujolais Blanc (Chasselay’s Eparcieux Blanc), 100% chardonnay. When I suggested to Claire’s father, Jean-Gilles—himself a classic portrait of a robust French vigneron—that their white wine was as good as a fine Meursault, Père Chasselay laughed and observed in French, “It’s got everything they have—except the price!” Indeed, this may have been the best $18 white wine I have ever tasted. As if this were not enough, we were then treated to a rare experience: a taste of the legendary Nouveau Beaujolais, in the bottle only a few weeks—three days before its official international release: the high point of a two-week trip to France. A visit from a local café owner, evidently there to taste and buy for his shop, generously sharing his baguette and local sausage, rounded out the tasting.
Our only regret is having planned Domaine Chasselay as a one-night stopover en route to the Jura and Champagne. Considering the farm’s central location within quick striking distance of Lyon, the rest of Beaujolais, greater Burgundy, et al., we immediately began fantasizing about our next (2 week!) visit. Given the truly warm hospitality of this hard-working family and the authentic experience of a stay with them, a return to DC is inevitable.

What a fabulous evening! We arrived and got settled in our room, and then we went and met up with Claire. She taught us about her vines and the whole process she uses to create some very tasty wines. It was just the two of us for a tour and tasting. Claire apologetically only provided us with some snacks for dinner--it was one of the most delicious meals on my whole trip! She prepared at least 3 dishes along with cheese, meats, bread, and a healthy serving of wine. Most of the food originated from her garden and the freshness was clear. We also enjoyed a nice breakfast before we departed in the morning. I highly recommend this experience!

Gilles et son Épouse tiennent un petit domaine viticole où le vin qui est élaboré est de bonne qualité. On y est bienvenu pour déguster du vin, en toute simplicité et avec un accueil toujours souriant et gentil.

Nous avons visité la cave lundi 31 au matin. Quel accueil, et quelle passion de la part de la propriétaire ! Nous avons passé un super moment de partage autour du vin bio produit par le couple. Absolument génial

We highly recommend a visit to Domaine Chasselay! The Chasselay family has been making wine since the 1400's and the passion, love, and family welcomed visitors with ease. We stayed in the bed and breakfast and our highlight was our time with Claire, one of the vintners. She not only provided a tasting but spend time showing us the production areas and explained the organic process they use. They have varied wines and all were quite lovely! We can't wait to get back to the states to order wine! The village is off the beaten path and is the gateway to the Beaujolais wine trail.

Ci ha accolto il padre del proprietario: un personaggio estroverso, spiritoso, alla mano e con una grande voglia di parlarci della sua azienda e della loro avventura con la produzione biologica. I vini sono stupendi e non costano nulla.
