Shari and Ava were such wonderful hosts for this tour. Being unfamiliar with the Valley De Guadalupe it was so fun and relaxing to be guided to unique and beautiful wineries and learn from our guides about the history of the region, winemaking and the local culture. We took the "mid-level" package which included a farm to table lunch that was just out of this world in the quality of the food and presentation. It is a 5-star experience and I highly recommend you book a tour with Valley Girl Wine tours when visiting Baja.

This review is difficult to write…in a good way! There are not enough superlatives to describe the experience we had with Valley Girl Wine Tours and Ava.
I found Valley Girl Wine Tours through two independent recommendations from friends and booked the tour with Ava for our cruise stop in Ensenada. From first contact with Ava our tour was what all of us dream about when booking a tour, the likes of which we’ve only seen on travel channel specials.
I want to emphasize that Ava tailored the tour to us by getting to know us through email before we even arrived in Ensenada. She asked probing questions to find out what would give us an extraordinary day—what kinds of wine do you like, any food allergies, do you like cheese, beer, anything in particular you would want to see?
Three boutique wineries, a specialty cheese store and a lunch chosen, served and paired with wines specifically for our party.
I could go on and on about the history lesson, the wine expertise, the beauty of the valley, the hospitality of the locals, the delicious food, and of course the wine. The valley itself is a wonder to explore, but without Ava and Valley Girl Wine Tours, we would not have had the culturally immersive day filled with new friends and happy memories.
Thank-you Ava and Valley Girl Wine Tours, we’re already planning our return!

This is going to sound paid for, but honestly, this tour was one of the best days of my life. I found Ava to be incredibly knowledgeable on the region, and passionate about the wine and the wineries in the area. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed spending the better part of a day touring three wineries, meeting winemakers and eating some amazing food. This really did feel like a once in a lifetime experience. Thank you Ava for making our fist trip to the Valle so memorable, and we will certainly plan to return again and hit you up for another tour!

BEWARE. I WAS CHEATED OF MY DEPOSIT AND NEVER HEARD BACK from Owner/Sommelier, Ava Carolina Perez.
My first inquiry regarding booking a wine tour for my husband and I for 9/4/18 was early August 2018. Ava emailed me back on 8/6/18 with a very nice letter with info about the tour, she stated that 9/4/18 was available, and asked me questions to better customize my tour.
The following is the timeline of communications:
8/6/18 I emailed Ava back confirming the date, requesting the $160 per person tour option that would include a non-sommelier tour guide (tours with a sommelier cost $180 per person), and asked her questions regarding hotel pick-up and also about what time the tour would end.
8/8/18 Ava emailed me with more info. She confirmed hotel pick-up and what time the tour would end. In regards to payment, this is what she wrote:
Secure your reservation today! To secure your tour today we request a $20 deposit PayPal. Your $20 PayPal deposit is deducted from the total cost of your tour and is 100% refundable if you need to cancel as long as you give us 48 hours notice. The remaining balance of your tour will be collected by your guide (Ava) in cash (dollars or pesos) when we pick you up. Once we receive you $20 deposit we will send you a confirmation email with additional details about your tour.
Of course if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask and you can always reach me on my cell or WhatsApp at +52.646.108.7815.
**But Ava did not confirm that I was booking two tours at $160 each. What concerned me was that I was going to get charged $180 per person after seeing in her email that she, Ava the sommelier, was going to be our tour guide.
8/9/18 I emailed Ava to confirm the $160/person deal.
8/11/18 No reply from Ava, so I asked her again to confirm the price.
8/14/18 No reply from Ava so I emailed her again to confirm the price, and also to express my concern for her well-being as I had not heard anything from her in two days.
8/20/18 No reply from Ava so I emailed her to let her know I made my deposit of $20 via PayPal on 8/16/18, and I'd like to get a confirmation on the booking. I stated that if I did not hear back from her in the next three days, I would reluctantly cancel and find another tour operator.
8/24/18 After trying to contact Ava via telephone twice, and hearing a message that her number was not receiving calls, I emailed her to officially cancel my booking which was well within her 48-hour cancellation policy. I also stated that I expected an email to confirm said cancellation as well as to receive a $20 refund. I even said I was sorry if she was in a bad situation and could not get back to me but I had to move forward.
I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM AVA.
I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A REFUND.
It was only $20, but $20 times many bookings that may never happen nor get refunded may be FRAUD.
BEWARE.
Final notes:
1. We ended up going with another tour operator, and we had a wonderful day wine-tasting for our 25th Anniversary.
2. While in Valle de Guadalupe, we saw a sign for Valley Girl Wine Tours so it seems to be a legitimate business, and we sincerely hope Ava is ok.
3. We hope that this review will result in our getting our deposit back.

We were in Ensenada for a day on a cruise and booked Ava and Valley Girl Wine Tours for a tour of the Guadalupe Valley. It was just the two of us, and Ava and her brother Si picked us up right outside the gate for the port in a personal and comfortable vehicle. We headed outside of the town and got to our first winery a little early. While waiting, Ava explained some of what we'd see and then we headed in. The experience here, at Vinicola Retorna, was better than just about any winery tour we've ever been on! Not only was the wine absolutely wonderful, but the tour was conducted in such a way that we really understood what we were tasting and how the wine was made! It was very hard to only purchase a few bottles!!
Our next stop, at a local cheese shop, was just as wonderful! Ava explained the different cheeses that we could taste, and there were many! Again, we couldn't purchase all that we loved, but we did buy 4 different kinds and some delicious tortillas.
On to a second winery, Vina de Frannes, where we again tasted delicious wines and had a beautiful view, before heading to lunch, where we were treated to an authentic Baja lunch!
Finally on to Ava's family winery El Corcho Rosa, where we met her wonderful mother (the winemaker!) and tasted all of the lovely wines they produce. Again, we couldn't buy everything we loved!
Ava and Si then got us back to the ship with minutes to spare, but it was a phenomenal day! Hope to get back there again!

Ours was a group of 8 visiting from Arizona. Ava's wine tour was THE highlight of our trip. Wine tastings at three wineries and one creamery were well-selected and well-spaced. Ava's wine, cheese, and food selections were superior. She was so knowledgeable that even the non- and lesser drinkers in our group had a great time and found it worthwhile.
I'd follow Ava's nose and palate anywhere. She's a remarkable lady whose tours provide both great value and great experience.

A a was our guide. From the time I first emailed her she was always pleasant and made it known that she would do her best to make our tour fun. We were on a new years eve cruise on Carnival and I didn't want to even get off at the Ensenada port but a fellow cruiser mention a tour through valley girl so I decided to ask questions.we had both beer and wine drinkers in our group of 8 so I asked her to show us the best brewery and the best winery and they were both perfect!! Sorry I forgot the names :( we had a couple snags since we were there on New year's day some places were closed even though she confirmed before hand for our lunch but we ended up at her third favorite taco stand and it was yummy!! I would highly recommend A a and her tour company and will definitely use her again next time we do the party boat carnival cruise for sure!!

If you are touring the wineries in Valle de Guadalupe you should absolutely take this tour. It ends up costing the same as going to three wineries on your own, but you have a driver and someone who not only knows wine, but also knows the history of the area as well as lots of suggestions of where to go and what to eat. Our day with Ava and Boris was PERFECT. They both know their wines and foods as they were both sommeliers and chefs. In fact, Boris gives cooking classes. We went to three wineries, a fabulous cheese shop and a wonderful roadside local restaurant that you would never find on your own. I was there with my husband, my 24 yr old nephew and my 82 yr old dad. We all had THE BEST TIME and can't wait to go back with friends.

Apologetically, this review is about month overdue... here it goes:
After researching very carefully, and reading TripAdvisor reviews, I chose Valley Girl Tours for a private wine tour with my boyfriend. From the very beginning, my communication with Ava was clear and seamless. She asked questions that familiarized her with what my boyfriend and I were trying to achieve out of our wine tour experience. Based on our answers, she provided various options that would suit any budget.
We ended up going with the option that aside from private transportation, 3 wineries, and a cheese shop stop, included a tasting menu lunch.
As it turned out, Ava had another tour scheduled for the day we selected, but she passed us on to Boris. She assured we’d be in great hands and with that said, our tour was planned.
On the day of our tour, Boris was on time (actually early like we were) and waiting for my boyfriend and I outside our Airbnb. He greeted us with a welcoming smile and we immediately felt comfortable and knew we had made the right decision. On each stop on the tour, you could tell the winery owners and employees loved Boris and had a fantastic relationship established with him. In turn, as members of his tour, we were able to experience each location as locals and join in on the inner circle while learning things we wouldn’t have otherwise. And as everyone knows, exploring new places with locals is always better.
As the tour went on, and we purchased a bottle from each stop, along with some delicious artisan cheese, bread, and honey (upon Boris’ recommendation), we got to know Boris better. He educated us in the history of the wine in the area, had fun facts about the wine, cracked jokes, and was so easy to talk to.
On our final stop, Boris definitely saved the best for last. We experienced the most exquisite food by Chef Saul Flores surrounded by gorgeous architecture and a breathtaking vineyard. This part was my absolute favorite, and after a four course meal, Boris encouraged us to take a picture to commemorate the day. As a bonus, Ava was actually eating with her own tour guests at this time and we were able to meet her!
Our tour had now come to and end, and Boris took us home.
BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE!
Boris gave us his number and mentioned that if we weren’t busy and wanted to try some really awesome tacos, he’d be more than happy to meet us later in the evening. This is the part where most Americans would probably think that it was an empty offer, or “bar talk” that you’d agree on and not follow through. Not the case. Boris was 100% genuine and we ended up meeting him out for some of the best tacos of our trip as well as beers afterwards.
I can’t say enough good things about both Boris and Ava. They are professional individuals that maintain a personal touch to their business. If you are looking for a wine tour that is personalized, educational, with a local’s perspective, and fun, you’ve found the right one.

Thank you for contacting Valley Girl Wine Tours. We’re so pleased you found us. We are available for a tour for 5 people on Tuesday, December 27th, 2016.
We specialize in customized private behind the scenes tours of boutique wineries off the beaten path. On our tours we pick you up at the end of the cruise terminal past the 2nd guard gate by the street (to save you money!) at 10:30am to get to our first winery when they open at 11am. We visit 3 wineries where we get to sample 2 to 5 wines at each location, learn about the winemaking process, and really connect the wine in the glass with the people who make it and our unique terroir. After the 3rd winery we then have the opportunity to stop for a bite at one of our delicious eateries (we have 4 Michelin star chefs!) before getting you back to the boat between 4-4:30pm. Alternatively, we can also visit 2 wineries and one of our favorite local breweries if you prefer. Just let us know what your interests are.
We offer 4 basic tours: Our Favorites (which is always changing!) where we celebrate amazing wines and winemakers that don't get the same press as the big competitors, Women Winemakers, Barrel Tasting, and Beer Beer Beer.
With our 130 wineries in our region we are very particular about which wineries we visit. Our standard of service is very high. We only visit boutique wineries where we have developed personal relationships with the winemaker and their staff as well as wineries that consistently provide a personal and enriching experience. We feel we should only bring our guests to wineries where we go to spend our own money.
All our guides live and work in Mexico’s picturesque Guadalupe Wine Valley about 40 minutes from downtown Ensenada. We are winemakers, craft beer brewers, sommeliers, chefs, and bakers. We are enthusiastic about Mexican wine and want to get the secret out!
Because our tours are customized prices vary though we average around $80-100 per person which includes private transportation, a driver, an expert local English speaking guide, and tastings at 3 of our favorite wineries.

We do customized tours so prices vary and it depends a lot on your transportation needs, whether you are staying in the wine valley, arriving on a cruise or staying at an airBnB somewhere nearby. Prices are generally around $80 - $100/pp including private transportation, driver, and English speaking guide, and tastings at three wineries. We don't charge for under age children!

We are going to be in Ensenada November 16 through the 18th, and were hoping to do an afternoon wine tour on the 16th with 6 or 8 people. We will be staying at the El Rey Sol. We also have 3 small dogs and 2 large dogs that will be with us. Is there room in the van or limo for us and the dogs? And would you be willing to watch after them while we are in the wine tastings? They are all very well behaved and friendly. We are not sure about leaving them in the motel room for the entire afternoon while we are gone. Please let us know.

I highly recommend El Cielo Winery and Latitude 32 Resturante for a lovely lunch and fantastic wines. Ask to see the chef and tell him Connie Morgan sent you.
