Right now, this is likely the best vantage point in Vallarta, offering stunning panoramic views from the airport to Los Arcos. Reaching the top means tackling a steep staircase, but the effort is well worth it. Take it at your own pace if needed, but don’t miss the climb—the breathtaking view of the entire city is your reward.

Was really looking forward to the challenge as we have been over-enjoying our food and beverages in PV. The challenge was real! We encountered very little help in directions. Construction with ditch witches and burros. VERY STEEP inclines and NOTHING at the top. Sure the view was really nice but we had been told there were restrooms and snack bar. Everything was abandoned and we had to ration the water we brought! Very dust steps and hill made it dangerous. I hope someone takes this over and improves it. Tram was abandoned as well. Heck, I wanted to purchase a t-shirt that said I made it to the top of Mirador de La Cruz but nothing to be had.

Mirador de la Cruz - 5 stars - Quite a view (pics)
This place has one of the best views of the city. Don’t be afraid of the steep climb and stairs. There are plenty of places to stop and rest along the way. Since there are two sets of stairs, keep to the right set as to minimize any congestion on the staircase. The climb is all shaded during the morning so no worries about getting overheated if you choose to climb then. The funicular alongside the stairs has been abandoned quite a few years ago and there are no longer any toilets or a cafe at the top. Just an elevated viewing platform and a cross with a number of benches to sit upon and enjoy the view of the city and the bay. When I climbed up in January, the road below it was closed to traffic for construction of a new retaining wall but was open to pedestrians.

This is amazing - a wonderful walk, but somewhat difficult to find your way. Note my photos that will help. Walk up Aldama from the Malecon until it ends at a little cafe. Walk to the left in front of the cafe up a dirt path (may be some trash on the side, don't worry!). It's just a short distance to a street that is steep uphill - you'll see a tower at the top. Once the street ends (you can use steps on the right), you'll be on steps on either side of a non-working funicular. Rest as you need to, as you'll soon be on the top. Great views!

Moderate climb so wear comfy shoes. Great activity for a morning at downtown PV. The paramedic view was worth the hike. And it’s free!

This is an excellent hike through the cobblestone streets of Puerto Vallarta and then up a series of steps to the top of Cerro de la Cruz. The view is incomparable and worth the effort.
Consider going early to avoid the more intense midday and afternoon heat. The route is very short, and it is all paved. You'll love the fantastic view of the sea and city.

So, this was something recommended by a travel blog of things you need to do in Puerto Vallarta! This was probably my 10th time here and had yet to experience this site! The website reviews say 15-20 minute climb! Well, when you’re 60 and have exercise induced asthma… give yourself an hour! Holy crap! Straight up! View was amazing! Did once, will never climb again! Down was much better! Enjoy if you give it a try!!

Wonderful view of the city. Lots of steps once the road ends. Not for the weak but worth the muscle burn. 😊 Go at sunset it makes the climb worth it.

The nearest point accessible by taxi is 220 steps from the top. There are no bathrooms nearby. Snacks and drinks are sold at the final 220 step access point. You can take your time making this final ascent so it is possible for anyone with sufficient energy to ascend this many stairs.
