We always go to Yelpha but wanted to try a different beach spot. Headed out via taxi and dropped us at the top of the stairs. It’s a bit to get down to the beach. It was extremely crowded, $40 for 4x chairs , table and umbrella. The sand and water were fabulous but the lack of bathroom facilities and constant peddlers were unpleasant. Think we will stick to Yelpha and Bucerias as our other go too.

We had a wonderful experience at Playa Las Gemelas today. We wanted to go to a beach outside of PV proper and Yelapa seemed too far for two women traveling here for our first time. It was a Tuesday in November so it was quiet, which was welcomed. It seemed more locals, either from nearby towns or the condos on the beach. But the water was clean and clear with mild waves, the shells were gorgeous and the water temperature couldn't be beat. We Uber'd there instead of the bus. You're dropped on the side of the highway to take very steep and unkempt stairs down to the water (not handicap friendly), which opens up onto the beach. There, vendors make food, rent tables and chairs and have other fun things to look at / buy. You won't be disappointed.

The beach is fairly small, but beautiful. Mostly locals here. We did rent the table and chairs offered which was nice as we were there a good portion of the day. Would recommend getting there before noon as it gets busier as the day goes on. We arrived about 11 and only one other group was there for at least the first 30 minutes.

We had a nice experience spending the afternoon relaxing here. Took an uber and they drop you off at a large staircase (may be difficult for elderly or small children to get down). Once you get to the bottom you’ll likely be approached by guys offering to rent you beach chairs and umbrellas. We didn’t bring anything other than towels so we paid for two chairs, a small table and umbrella for 350 MX pesos. They also sell fresh fruit and coconuts.
We got there around 11am and it was still pretty empty/quiet but once 1pm hit it got very crowded with all locals. There are no bathroom or shower facilities so beware of that if planning a day.
Overall I would recommend as it was a much better/cleaner area to swim in the ocean than the zona hotelera.

The totally golden sand and the super crystal clear, transparent water, beautiful beach, super calm waves, it seems like you are in a pool, you will be surprised when you visit it.

Sin duda para mi fue la mejor playa en Puerto Vallarta y no pienso discutirlo, esta muy padre si lo que quieres es relajarte en sus playas cristalinas. Llévate tu basura y cuida el lugar.

la mejor playa de vallarta sin duda alguna, limpia, marea baja, nada profunda. agua turquesa y con la ventaja de que mucha gente no la conoce y no se llena de tanto turista.

Las gemelas son 2 playas separadas por un roquería, bonito lugar. Las olas ese día estaban intensas y no era fácil disfrutar del baño. No hay estacionamiento formal.

This beach is beautiful and the day we were there it was not very crowded. I love the white sand and aqua water which we did not have at the resort we stayed at further north. We enjoyed the waves and the warm water! Beach was clean and there were some people selling fruit, shrimp on a stick, etc.

How cold is the sea water to swim or snorkel in mid-late January at plaza las gemelas beach, or any calm beaches in PV?
Other than las gemelas beach, any other beaches are calm and warmer to swim in January?
I’m used to swim in heated pool of 80F in CA so wonder if I need to bring my shorty wetsuit to stay warm in the water?
Are most swimming pools heated in hotels and Airbnbs in winter?

You take the southernmost bus headed to Mismaloya, Where buses go is usually painted on the front windows, The first stop is behind the PEMEX station where it stops before climbing the hill to Conchas Chinas Ask the driver to drop you at the stairs to Playa Gemellas. Remember that the G is pronounced like our H. It is the stop after the Condos Gemellas. It is about a 15 minute taxi ride to the beach and costs about $10. The bus is 10 pesos.

Local bus is 1o pesos. It is the bus to Mismaloya and you ask the driver to let you off att he steps down to the public beach there. The bus is the furthest south off the downtown core.

Hi All,
Planning on visiting PV at the end of Nov, 2018 and staying at Las Penas condos on Playa Gemelas. Can anybody update me on the constructions right next door to the condos? Is it still on going? How is the noise level? Read some horrible reviews about raw sewage being dumped into the ocean. Any info on your personal experience with this location is greatly appreciated.

Los Muertos peer would be a great place to start. You can ask any tour company on the Malecon. There is a fish market/ restaurant across from the Casino you can ask. In short, don't be shy, just ask around. Lots of ppl to help you.
