I have only positive things to say about my experience, and my instructor Edson. If you’re looking to learn how to surf, book a lesson with Xiutla Riders, and book a lesson with Edson.
We drove about 45 minutes or so from Puerto Vallarta to La Lancha in Punta de Mita. Edson was fun to chat with on both the drive to the beach and back to PV. Edson was very mindful of my experience level, and ensured I had a board that was a great fit for me and my skill set. Once we got to the beach Edson took his time during an initial lesson on the sand, where we practiced a few key techniques, safety moves, and studied the water to find some ideal spots to get comfortable. Once in the water, Edson not only taught me how to surf, but also how to read the ocean, find a set and wave, and surfing etiquette. By the end of the lesson, I was picking and riding waves on my own.
I didn’t feel like I walked away from a surf lesson, I felt like I walked away from a surf session. After a couple hours with Edson, I feel like a can tell my friends I know how to surf. If you are not just looking for a surf lesson, but you’re looking to actually learn how to surf, book a lesson with Edson. I can’t wait to grab a board and go back out into the water.
