From the outside looking at the beautiful ballet theatre to the inside looking at the stained-glass ceiling and beautiful stage door I thought that was enough. The dancing left me wanting to see it over and over again. The beauty of the dancing and the mariachi music left me in tears.
Mexico City on the whole is fabulous with people coming from all over the world to enjoy the many museums and tours to small towns outside the city. I will go back.

Our family of four (two young adults) attended this performance. While we were all blown away, my daughter, who is a dancer, was especially awed because she really understands what it takes to do these dances. Mexico is huge, and the Ballet Folkloric allows you see the different cultures of the region as expressed through dance. The Palace de Beaux Artes is fantastic on the inside, as well, and the tickets aren't expensive at all compared to many American shows. Absolutely one of the highlights of our trip.

We booked the show having no idea of what to expect. It was 90 minutes of massed whirling costumes, percussive dance, a lariat show, monsters in masks, virtuosic mariachi playing from a ten-piece band - violins, bass guitar, other guitars, one or two Mexican harps (arpa jarocha) - and thrilling call and response singing. A trio of trumpeters made a regular appearance, and like trumpeters the world over they were put at the back of the stage as their clamorous enthusiasm was hard to keep in check.
Dazzling harp duel. I didn’t know that the harp was part of the Mexican musical ensemble. The arpa jarocha is broadly similar in appearance to the western orchestral harp, but smaller, with a sound like a cross between a mandolin and an African thumb piano. Unlike the ethereal European harp, it has a tougher, attacking edge with less sustain. We were treated a dazzling display of virtuosity when two harpists had a ‘duel’ centre stage, with the audience applauding after each solo as if we were at a jazz concert. Fantastico!

The show was a fantastic representation of Mexican culture in a theatre with the best blend of Art deco & classical architecture.

A beautiful and vibrant 90-minute Mexican traditional dance show with lots of colored dress twirling, hidalgo boot stamping, and Mariachi music. There are also a couple of "tribal" scenes that are really engaging, especially the opening one with loud ceremonial drums and ritual dancing. The theater's inside decoration is magnificent. The closer you can be to the stage the better. Sitting right at the edge of a balcony is also worth it. Many tickets are only sold in pairs or groups but there are also singles harder to find. Booking a few days in advance is wise. The show starts exactly at the programmed time and ends exactly 90 minutes later. You can take photos and videos from phones but apparently not from "professional" cameras. Booking online works very well and you get assigned seating.

I do not know about in the past but in 2021 BUYING TICKETS ONLINE FOR THIS SHOW AT BELLAS ARTES IS A COMPLETE SCAM. I am sure the actual show is wonderful (for those who miraculously are able to get in!!) but DO NOT waste your time trying to see this show especially by buying through Ticket Master Mexico and/or by seeing it at the Bellas Artes (I am not sure which is more to blame at this point - the venue or Ticket Master, or the two in combination)! Contrary to what we read online, we were not able to pick up tickets at the venue Palacio de Bellas Artes in advance when we went. We were told in person 2 days before the show by the box office worker at the venue that we could collect our tickets right before the show. We told her we would be away the day before. When we got there the day of the show, 40 minutes beforehand, the same woman at the box office and a man working at Belles Artes, the venue, insisted we needed to have come “24 hours in advance,” despite acknowledging that we were told otherwise. Mind you, we had already bought tickets for this show! And yet, the venue said that we did not have tickets, and the show was sold out, so what did we even pay 1875 pesos for?? A sympathetic woman in line told me she was only seeing the show because she paid for scalped tickets moments before. There were many scalpers outside with tickets. Another couple next to us were being fed the same “sorry not sorry, 24 hours in advance” line right next to us and they said they had the same thing happen to them and they were not getting a refund either. Our hotel concierge then told us that this has happened to multiple people as well — scammed by Ticket Master and/or Bellas Artes. Please please please DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU. We travel all over and have gone to many wonderful shows and have never experienced anything like this or the miserable “sorry not sorry” treatment we receive at this venue. Otherwise our trip to Mexico City has been very nice, and we have met many wonderful people! This is the first negative review I have ever written. Please do not go through this experience and let it leave a sour taste in your mouth. We will see if Ticket Master issues a refund with the printout that the venue gave us; otherwise this should be at least be reported to the police so it can no longer happen to any more unsuspecting people who just want to appreciate Mexican culture.

Just beautiful. Bought our tickets through Ticketmaster two days prior to the show. Tickets are picked up via will call, either at an official Ticketmaster Center or at the venue itself. We picked ours up at a nearby Ticketmaster Center that was located in a nearby shopping center (at a store called Mixup in the Reforma 222 shopping center), as I wanted to make sure I had the Tickets ahead of time. You can see other options nearest you on the Ticketmaster website. If you are not a Mexican citizen, you will need your passport along with the order confirmation. Pretty simple. Turns out, we could’ve also picked the tickets up at the venue prior to the show (I’d recommend taking your passport as well, just in case.)

The venue was at the Teatro de la Ciudad Esperanza Iris, walking distance from the Palacio de Bellas Artes. Such a beautiful venue. Highly recommend balcony seats as you can really get a great view of the performance (we sat in section 1PPLUS and it was great, about $30 US dollars/ticket. But honestly, any seat/section would do, as the venue is relatively small and just awesome.

Don’t want to spoil the show, but all I can say is that it truly is an amazing experience. Show was about 1.5 hours. Ubers are available before and after the show.

As far as COVID goes, masks are required for the audience and all performers are wearing face coverings and masks, but that does not take away anything from the performance. Honestly, it made it even more impressive as they were able to execute flawlessly while still taking precautions. Don’t let this deter you!! Also, you are allowed to sit only in pairs, with one seat empty between each pair.

I never write reviews, but this was so great I just had to write this. I hope this helps someone! You won’t regret it, it’s super well worth it!! VIVA MEXICO!!
