We had an incredible experience at Merida Santiago Hotel Boutique with their Tequila and Mezcal tasting. From start to finish, it was a fantastic and educational adventure. The owner, who led the tasting, was a true expert in everything tequila and mezcal. His passion for these spirits was infectious, and he shared fascinating historical insights about their origins and the intricate processes involved in their production. We were not only able to taste a variety of top-quality tequilas and mezcals, but we also gained a deep understanding of what makes each one unique.
The tasting was incredibly informative, and we learned so much about the differences between tequila and mezcal, from the types of agave used to the distillation methods. It was clear that the owner was not just knowledgeable, but genuinely passionate about his craft, which made the experience even more enjoyable. He explained everything in such an engaging way that it felt like we were on a journey through time and tradition with every sip.
What really made the experience stand out, though, was the hands-on cocktail making session. The hotel had prepared all the ingredients, and we got to mix our own drinks like real bartenders! It was so much fun experimenting with different flavors and learning how to create cocktails using tequila and mezcal. The owner guided us through each step, offering helpful tips and tricks, making us feel like true mixologists.
By the end of the session, we walked away with not only a new appreciation for these Mexican spirits but also with some fantastic new cocktail skills. It was such a fun and informative experience that we would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Merida. Whether you're a tequila connoisseur or a complete beginner, this tasting offers something for everyone, and the personal touch from the owner made it even more memorable. We’re already planning our next visit and can’t wait to do it all again!

Great tasting, we got to appreciate the differences in flavour between different tequila and mezcal types. The ‘snacks’ were like delicious mini dishes and were amazing! Sebastian was really informative, teaching us how to taste, what to look for, about the production process etc

We did the Tequila tasting yesterday with two other guys. It was awesome. Majo and Jose explained us everything one could know about Tequila & Mezcal. From the agave plants where they grow, when they are harvested, how they are processed, fermented, filtered, destilled etc. They could answer all of our questions. Besides tasting the liquors with the correct additions like limes and salt we also had one cocktail with Tequila and one with Mezcal.
The variety of the Tequilas and Mezcals was good. Different brands, different processes or agave plants. We also got tips on what we need to look for when buying Tequila or Mezcal.
It was absolutely worth having the tasting with Jose & Majo because I have learned so much about Tequila and Mezcal and had a lot of fun.

This was a fantastic experience. We had such a great time and learned a lot. Rodrigo and Mario were incredibly kind and helpful. Plus, the food was some of the best we’ve had on our trip in Mexico!

We had the tequila and mezcal tasting organized by Rodrigo and we had a very pleasant time.
He has in-depth knowledge about the process of the manufacturing and different flavours of the types of drinks. Besides, Rodrigo is an enjoyable person who explains everything with a lot of enthousiasm. We would really recommend this tasting when in Mérida!

Coup de coeur pour cette dégustation dans un bel hôtel pas loin du centre de Merida.
Nous avons été accompagnés par Mario qui nous a fait découvrir le processus de création des tequilas, les spécificités du mezcal et nous a donné de nombreux conseils de dégustation. Nous avons aussi réalisé nous-mêmes les cocktails en suivant ses conseils.
L'équipe était très attentionnée, Mario parle bien français. Un grand merci à lui et à la cheffe Reina qui a réalisé les accompagnements et les plats.
Nous recommandons fortement cette activité
Nous avons été accompagnés par Mario qui nous a fait découvrir le processus de création des tequilas, les spécificités du mezcal et nous a donné de nombreux conseils de dégustation. Nous avons aussi réalisé nous-mêmes les cocktails en suivant ses conseils.

Dit was exact wat we nodig hadden. De zoektocht naar een georganiseerde tasting was niet makkelijk maar we zijn heel blij dat we deze gevonden hebben. Het was het geld 100% waard. We waren een klein groepje van 5 en de sfeer was meteen goed.
Maria José en Mario brachten een helder verhaal in zowel Spaans als heel goed Engels. Maria José heeft veel kennis van de verschillende dranken en de manier waarop ze gemaakt zijn. Alles was super duidelijk en alle bijkomende vragen kon ze zonder probleem beantwoorden. Ze weet waarover ze spreekt.
Ze leren je alle smaken en geuren onderscheiden en combineren het met vruchten zodat de smaken nog meer tot hun recht komen. Tussendoor kregen we heel lekkere snacks en cocktails, gemaakt met de dranken uit de tasting. De flessen zelf zijn niet te koop bij de tasting maar ze geven wel tips waar je ze kan verkrijgen.
Would 100% recommend and we would come back next time we're in Merida.

We did this tasting upon arriving in Merida. Stayed at the hotel and it was great! The tasting was really fun and educational. Chef Maria Jose guided us through history, origins, production methods and more. She is a joy. Nelly provided real time translation. Together they were amazing hosts. Pairing mezcals with fruits was new for us. And biting a slice of lime before sipping tequila taught us we’d always done that backwards. Highly recommend this tasting experience.

We had a wonderful evening tasting tequila and mezcal. There was great information shared on the production of both tequila and mezcal. We were instructed in how to taste and the approach was thoughtful and interesting. There were food pairings and signature cocktails. It was all delicious. The tasting is set in a boutique hotel. We stayed after for dinner and the food was delicious. Highly recommend.
