This was great to visit to learn more about the history of SMA and the area. The building and architecture is also impressive. Convenient location too.

Today we visited Casa Allende, the home of the revered Mexican revolutionary, Ignacio Allende, who along with Father Hidalgo inspired and led the revolution of 1810, which freed Mexico of its Spanish colonizers. As with the Canal home, this house is centered on an open courtyard. Today we saw many truly fine photographs from the 19th and 20th centuries and paintings of children painted in the late 19th and mid-20th centuries. Some of the artists represented were Rivera, Orozco, Galvan, and Flores. A number of the rooms were dedicated to representing the events in Allende’s life and times. Still others displayed the furniture and decorative arts that were his while he lived there. A must see in San Miguel.

across SMdA's landmark Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel, nice museum to visit to learn a bit of history of San Miguel de Allende. one thing to know in advance is, it's only open four days a week, which is from Wed to Sat

Si vienes a San Miguel de Allende es importante que conozcas su historia y con ello, la de los padres de la independencia. Por eso tienes que venir a este museo. Muy lindo y muy bien conservado.

An interesting former house that houses a museum with videos (only in Spanish) and artifacts of the Allende period. Only 60 pesos so worth the price!

House of Ignacio Allende is a must stop. Right on El Jardin. It worth going any day of the week but Sunday's admission is free.

This mansion turned museum is very interesting. Allende is one of the most important figures in Mexican history and seeing his house gives you an idea of what the man must have been like. History is interesting, but getting a glimpse into the real people who created that history is fascinating. If you are anywhere in San Miguel, it is a short walk to the Allende House. Take advantage of the proximity.
