Der Aufsteig dauert zwischen 45-60min. ist steil aber die Mühe wert. Wer den Sonnenaufgang/-untergang sehen will MUSS eine Taschenlampe mitnehmen. Teilweise muss man schon fast klettern und im dunkeln ist ohne Licht keine Chance für einen unfallfreien Auf-/Abstieg. Gute Schuhe und Wasser sind sowieso nötig.

I did this walk today and Google maps sent me down the wrong path! Good start held me back halfan hour. People saying the walk is easy is a joke. One hour up and one hour back. Bring alot of water I got very dehydrated! Just made it back before dark. Once at the top it was good to enjoy the smoky view! Rest up and let the heart slow down. I only saw one other couple the whole way up and back. Be prepared for this tough walk.

Der Aufstieg verläuft sehr steil nach oben und das eigentlich von Anfang bis zum Schluss. Ein paar hundert Meter vor dem Ziel wird es etwas flacher. Unterwegs recht weit unten noch, gibt es eine Fläche zum ausruhen. Hier sind ein paar Tische und Schaukeln. Die Halbzeit wird mit einem Schild angezeigt. Eine weitere grössere Fläche zum pausieren, wie es auf der Tafel unten gezeigt wird, gibt es nicht.
Immer wieder gibt es Müllkörbe was ich sehr gut fand. Ich hatte grosse Bedenken wegen dem Weg da ich etwas Probleme mit dem Fuss hatte. Aber den Weg haben sie wirklich gut vorbereitet. Es sind mehr Stufen die bis nach ganz oben fühlen. Zum befestigen wurde viel Bambus eingesetzt. Da lohnen sich auch die Eintrittsgelder. Der Eintritt mit 20.000 ist total ok. Oben hat man eine Tolle Sicht und auch eine kleine Hütte wo man sich im Schatten aufhalten kann.

Un biglietto di ingresso di 20.000 kip, un innumerevole quantitativo di gradini e/o similari, sudore a catinelle ma... Quando si arriva in cima il panorama è superlativo. È possibile dormire in cima contattando le agenzie in paese. Consiglio le ore fresche del mattino per non rischiare di morire lungo la salita. Circa 1 ora di salita se si è in discreta forma.

The views are simply breathaking. You will need a good hour to make it to the top, but it is definitely worth it. It gets very hot after 1 pm.

I wasn't conditioned for the steps so it took me a little more time and breaks in between. The rest spots catered well for all and my favourite gotta be the rest stop with swings. How cool! We went during the mid day and it was well shaded throughout. We weren't there for sunset/sunrise so it's not crowded at all. Well we got the peak to ourselves. :)
Pay a small entry fee at the base. I think its all good to keep the trail safe and clean by the locals.

Vous allez devoir grimper pendant 1h mais ça vaut le coup.
C’est sportif, mais des bancs sont proposés en cours d’ascension.
On peut se poser autant de temps qu’on le souhaite en haut et profiter de la vue.
Allez y pour le coucher du soleil.

Entrance fee 20,000kip per person. We are not professional trekker so we took almost 60-75 minutes to reach the peak. The morning view was magnificent. Recommended to catch the sunrise view and reached before 8am. Must bring: water & jacket. To keep yourself hydrated during the hiking & quite cold at the peak.

Ich war in der Trockenzeit unterwegs. Der Weg ist super angelegt und die vielen Stufen erleichtern den Aufstieg sehr. Im Endeffekt war es für mich wie 1h Treppen steigen. Aber aufgrund der Temperaturen trotzdem schweißtreibend. Erst auf den letzten Metern zum Viewpoint wird es felsig. Die Aussicht entschädigt aber für den Aufstieg.
Leider schaffen es andere Wanderer nicht einmal ihre leere Wasserflasche wieder mit runter zu tragen. Und auch sonst lag oben leider einiges an Müll rum obwohl sogar Müllkörbe vorhanden sind.

Path up takes 45-60 min and is very well maintained. You pay 20.000 kip per persoon at entrance. The view is amazing and we had no problems with musquitos. Absolutely must do in Nong Khiaw! We went down before sunset, you could go down in dark, but might be challenge.

Can this be done with guide? What time is best to go? E.g for sunrise?

I would go early in the morning to avoid the heat. I wouldn t go before sunrise cause parts can be a bit slippy and this woyld be worse in the dark. I guess you can find a guide butvin daylight you definitely don't need one - the track is very clear, you can t get lost.
