Three couples were picked up by Dionicio Herrera (Tours are Fun) from our hotels and transported to the art walk, where we first visited several shops. The first stop was a jewelry store where we experienced a short narrative on oyster harvesting from the owner who then opened two oysters and retrieved pearls. I was one of the lucky ones who got to take a pearl home! Next we went to a chocolate factory and sampled numerous delicious milk and dark chocolates. Our last stop was a tequila tasting, and although I am normally not a tequila drinker, this was fun and delicous! We learned a lot about the different tequilas available at their shop, and sampled six of them, as well as three of the "dessert" tequilas, chocolate and coffee flavors being my favorites! We then went our separate ways to walk around and visit the dozens of souvenir shops, restaurants, art galleries, and street vendors in the town square area before meeting back up for the ride back to our hotels. There were lots of people and everyone seemed to be having fun. The streets are closed to traffic where the art walk is taking place, so it was safe to navigate. One can certainly take a taxi or Uber over to the Art Walk, but having an experienced guide like Dionicio made the evening so much more fun, especially since it was our first time there.
