It is situated in a village about 4 kms outside laem mae phim on the road to Kleang. Opposite a Mini Tesco Lotus situated on a roundabout. A lovely park with water features and various statues and monuments. In the middle a small hillock with a statue dedicated to the famous poet. Interesting little spot, great for relaxing stroll. Local ladies have their pilates in the evening here. Pass away an hour here.l Little outdoor market across by Tesco lotus selling local produce and street food. Recommended.

This place seems to be very famous for local people, because of the stories written by one of the most important Thai poet. Charming place with many statues, frames, don't miss it if you are in the area, but don't expect having any English explanations there. My children loved it because of the weird ambiance provided by the weird statues.

We had a house guest from Udon visiting us for a few days, so we took him for a drive to show him some of the sights of Rayong Province.
As we drove from Klaeng down to the coast we passed the Sunthorn Phu Monument, and we stopped to give our guest a closer look.
Santhorn Phu is Thailand's best-known poet, composing his epic works during the Rattanakosin period. He came under royal patronage, and could be considered the equivalent of a modern Poet Laureate.
Phu's career as a royal poet began in the reign of King Rama II, and when the king died, he resigned from the role and became a monk. Twenty years later, in the reign of King Rama III, he returned to court as a royal scribe, where he remained for the rest of his life.
Santhorn Phu's poems are popular to this day, and he is even recognized internationally.
The Santhorn Phu Monument is a park at the center of which is a hillock with a bronze of him on the top. Around the park are gardens and lakes, with statues of many of the mythical creatures from his poems.

Dit heel mooie plein aan de rotonde op de weg tussen Leam Mae Phim en Kleng straalt iets uit door zijn probere soberheid.Het is er netjes onderhouden en ordentelijk.

スントーン・プーとはタイの詩聖と呼ばれるラマ3世王・４世王期の大詩人（1786-1855）であり、クンチャーンクンペーン物語を初めとする傑作を世に送り出した人物であるとされている。1986年にユネスコの文化遺産の認定を受けたのに伴い記念公園が整備されている。ラヨーン県・クレーン郡の外れのロータリーの辺りにこの詩人が育った生家があったらしい。2006年末にも一度ここを訪ねたが当時は、銅像が申し訳なさそうに佇んでいただけであったが、周囲の町並みと共に綺麗な公園が整備されていた。

I've been here three times now, after going to the Chamao waterfall on my way to Maephim beach.
It's not that great, but it's nice to walf round the lake, take a few photos, and see and feel the love for Rayong's most famous personage.
He is to Thailand what Shakespere is to the English....

อนุสาวรีย์สุนทรภู่อยู่ไม่ไกลจากหาดแม่พิมพ์ ที่จอดรถไม่มีต้องจอดแปะช่องเว้าใกล้ๆ เข้าไปจะเป็นลานกว้างมีสะน้ำที่ยักษ์อยู่กับนางเงือก ใกล้ๆมีบ้านเก่าของสุนทรภู่ ตรงกลางจะเป็นอนุสาวรีย์ของสุนทรภู่ และที่สัการะบูชาได้ ในบริเวณนั้นมีร้านขายของฝาก เราซื้อเสื้อลายจันทบุรีตัวละร้อย สวยมาก ดีที่ซื้อเพราะที่อื่นไม่มีขาย มีก็ลายไม่สวย ใครมาแวะซื้อที่นี่เลยจบ แต่มันไม่มีที่บังแดดให้อาจจะร้อนนิดนึง
